Hornady failures in P30?

Hey guys, I was wondering what your thoughts were on Hornady ammo in a 9mm P30? I only ask because I remember seeing numerous threads about Hornady ammo being problematic in some HK handguns because of a size issue with the ammo (I think the HK45 is the model that doesn't like it). I did a search and only found this thread about it being used in a P30. The OP appeared to have a problem with it while others didn't. I was in my local gun shop today and was thinking about buying some of the 135 gr flex tip for HD, ended up just buying Fiocchi target ammo because I remembered hearing about the issues. So what do you guys think, was I being unreasonable? Would you trust Hornady ammo in your 9mm P30? Thanks

HK45 RCM Barrel - Out of spec?

As another thread indicates, I've just received a new-to-me HK45, and having placed the order at the same time, received a new HK45 RCM threaded barrel from HKparts. However, said barrel does not go into said slide of said gun. I can get it as far as seen in the the pictures below without too much force, but anything more nearly requires a rubber mallet.

<a href="http://www.hkpro.com/forum/attachments/hk-handgun-talk/12746-hk45-rcm-barrel-out-spec-barrel1.jpeg" title="Name:
This occurs with or without the o-ring - so that's not the issue. There is a slight 'ridge' in the barrels approximately 1/8th" before the o-ring that appears to be the culprit. Comparing the barrel from my HK45c, HK45, and RCM barrel, it appears that the original barrels are 0.625" in diameter (edit: adjacent to the o-ring), whereas the RCM barrel is closer to 0.630". I'm returning these calipers tomorrow, receipt be damned - I need something metal, that goes to .001".

Point being, while it is *possible* to force the RCM barrel into place, there's no way I would actually use it in this way, for it would literally blow up in my face. I'm going to call HKparts on Monday, and I'm sure they will make it right. Maybe there's a bad batch out there. Anyone out there experienced similar issues?

Offered to buy e0603's HK45 LEM with Heinie 3960's and the GG's reduced reset carry package on Saturday... received today and I'm beside myself. I'm still very much a handgun newbie, (don't let the Feb 2013 join date fool you) but I was very excited to receive this today and give it a run. I shot my first USP.45T on Wednesday (rental at the range), and was thrilled to combine that .45 HK experience with the similar grip of the P30's that I know and love.

As much of a difference I felt when converting my original (first) HK P30 .40 from v2 to v1, I can feel a bit of that 'step up' with the Gray Guns work done. I can't say that I'm going to send in *every* gun I've got, but I'm definitely saving up to send it my two P30's to get this work done... on top of every other gun project running at the same time. Even my friend and coworker that shoots semi-pro USPSA (Glock guy) said "Wow, that's a nice trigger". My P30L 9mm arrived as a vTGS, and after sending a few hundred downrange, and a fitful two hours last night (the P30 took me 20 minutes, I figured the second one would be easier) is now a v1 light LEM as well.

Regarding this purchase, NFA trust is being put together as I type this, threaded barrel for this was received yesterday (issues arose, separate thread), and a 45Osprey is waiting in the wings. Apparently, I'm not sitting around for years and says "Oh, I'm gonna get a can ... someday". Months ago I signed up for a CCW class, but figured by now they'd forgotten all about me. Yesterday, received an email that I was confirmed for tomorrow. I was originally going to take the P30L 9mm to 'qualify', but was thankfully able to take this gun along to the range to compare and add some variety. After today's trip, I'm still taking the P30L - I live in Missouri, so it's a 'can you hit the broad side of a barn' test, but still - I want to shoot out the X, turn around and go "What? I do this all the time!"'

Ah, the pictures... Here's the pair I shot today after their obligatory post-shooting spit-shine.

Full disclosure, the scratch in the slide and chip in the frame are barely noticeable, even when you know they're there and are looking right at them...

Came across some interesting ammo at the local fleet store the other day. Comes in 500 round boxes, fairly reasonable price, but I'm not sure if this is suitable for my USP 45.

Question is about the bullet construction. Looks like lead, but not plain lead, not molybdenum coated, nor is it a fmj. It's a goldish colored finish, but again, not a full metal jacket. I've had some experience with lead and moly lubed lead in the past, at a range where fmj wasn't allowed. Very delicate balance, avoiding stripped bullets and barrel leading.

The question revolves around the polygonal rifling on the HK and how bullets of this construction will work in these pistols?

Any thoughts or comments?

Thanks!

Does this look correct? There is a slight gap between the top of the sights and the sight pusher, so I wanted to make sure. Any tips from those who have previously done this are greatly appreciated. Respond here or feel free to PM me.

I want to send my USPF .45 to HK for a match trigger install and ,yes I have shot the standard trigger aplenty. My question to all is...would you say the match sa/da set up would be acceptable on a gun for carry ,home protection and the like? Does anyone else feel the overtravel stop screw is a bad idea on a gun for SD? I want the smoother ,lighter feel ,but I worry that the overtravel is just something that could bind up your gun at possibly the worst time. Anyone else use a USP tactical with match trigger for SD? Please chime in.

Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,
I finally made the decision to buy a pistol. I’ve fired a few of my friends’ or relatives’ pistols and really wasn’t sure what caliber I preferred. I went to a local sporting goods store, not really in the mindset of buying anything, but my boyfriend was picking up some shells and I was browsing the cases. The sales guy asked if I wanted to see anything and I said I was just looking…until I saw the HK. I then asked to see that one. As soon as he put it in my hand it was love at first feel. Every finger fell into their place on the grip and it literally felt like this pistol was molded to my hand. The more I held it, the more I fell in love. I couldn’t take it home that day, so I stewed for 2 weeks. At last I couldn’t take it anymore and I went back and brought it home. After sending 60 rounds through it, I was wondering if there are any tips out there for properly cleaning and oiling. I clean my shotguns and rifles all the time but is this really all that different than a long gun? How often (how many rounds) should I clean/oil? Also I know it’s all about practice to be a better shot and I certainly don’t mind practicing, but are there any tricks to the P30S 9mm to be a more consistent shot? I was shooting from a natural standing position at clay pigeons lined up on a stand, and couldn’t hit a thing at 30 yards. I thought to myself “I know I’m a better shot than this what the heck is going on??” Then I sat down and shot from a resting position. Instant improvement. I thought about putting a laser/light combo on it but I don’t really know which one to buy. Also, from looking online at the various kinds, how does the laser placement on the target compare to the actual impact. I’m guessing the concept of a laser is more for the vicinity of the shot not for the actual shot placement. I’m sorry for this being so long winded but I want to get the correct info and start out on the right track. I have to be the black sheep among my shooting friends, as I’m the only one with an HK. But I have already handed my gun to a few of them and they couldn’t believe the difference in comfort level between theirs and mine. Let me tell you it’s instant HK pride. I’m an HK fan for life.
Thanks for your time and input!
Katie

The gun is in pretty good condition, with a little bit or wear on the color dots for the safety. I am having a hard time determining this guns worth since its so hard to find all four calibers and was hoping to get some help on here. The .380 acp and the .32 acp barrel share the same serial number, and the guns serial number says it was just outside the first 500 made for commercial sale. Any feedback you could give me would be greatly appreciated

Hello all! After spending months reading through too many posts on here and elsewhere, i finally caved and bought what i have been saving up for for years. I am also green to the forums and want to thank you all for all of your knowledge in advance. HKs are impossible to find in my state so i ordered it online.

I have read many times before that some of the HK45CTs have the slide and barrel made in Germany and then assembled in New Hampshire. I have also read that they are now being made in new hampshire entirely. However i haven't read anything stating that the gun is made entirely in georgia, which mine reads on the side. Has something changed? Lastly, there has been some amount of discussion about the T barrels not matching the CT slides.... My SNs match below the gun, on the slide, and the barrel. Date code is 2013. Maybe this has all been said before but just putting in my two pennies.

Stoked to be part of the forum and learn something new every day.

I have exhausted the google options looking for people making or selling buffers.
