V51/G3 recoil rod & spring

I know the v51 has a special recoil rod, But my question is why the spring and rod cant be cut free from the end cap and just free float in the gun like like an MP5??? Thanks Brian

It can. I have seen a few. shattered has one like that I think.

My bud and I made one that works fine. We were supposed to make a bunch and I spent a small wad for materials, now I can't seem to motivate his butt. He always has something else cookin'... latest reason du jour is helping a gunshop set up a new location in which he's going to be made a partner. I suppose after that it'll be something else.

All I can tell you is that after we tried (and failed) with about a half dozen different designs, the latest is flawless and has been working for over two years now with NO issues. Just like an MP5, it can be used with ANY stock or butt plate.
