Default 2nd C93 is a bust. Now what?

Sent my first C93 back: no bolt gap, poor welds. Just got the replacement (Century was very nice about it) and the welds are better, but the front sight is canted left and the bolt gap was a .010-.012. After an initial cleaning and racking it a number of times, its now down to .008-.009. Going to shoot it this weekend and I am expecting the gap to shrink some more. My question is, should I even bother with the C93 anymore? I'd send it back again, but really, are they ever going to get it right? Just wondering if I should ask for a refund and go with a Vector 93? What do you guys think?

Return it...and call them. I had to return a FAL to them twice to get them to really fix the feeding problem, but it was worth it.

Not to make light of anything, but what is it about CAI?

The longer they build a model, the worse they seem to get.

But it's not like I'm immune to their issues, having sent mine back too.

That aside, it seems like if you can get a Vector for $900-1000, that is a better deal than a $500 C93. You know it will be right.

In hindsight, that is what I would have done.

It was a toss-up. I guess in the back of your mind you always think you might get lucky. Its the same reason we men buy flowers, candy and dinner. We can't help it.

Yes - absolutely send it back. When CAI tires of replacing the schitt guns their jobbers build for them, the will start to hire real shops.

Agree... send it back and try again, especially with a canted front sight. Then... if everything looks good to your eye, before firing it, send it to Jeff Walters along with an order for a new barrel. Jeff will install the new barrel the way it should have been done from the get-go and you will have a functioning C-93.

TT Century. UPS is picking it up next week. This is my 2nd C93 and I still haven't fired one yet! Ha ha. The fellow at Century was real nice and I'm glad they are taking care of the shipping both ways. Said they'd make sure it was done right this time. We'll see.....

    GOOD LUCK with Century!!
At least they are responding to you.
Like Shattered Mind says, send it to Jeff/Ghillie when you want it RIGHT!!

They can build things correctly....sometimes they just don't. I've had a stamped receiver Cetme for years. Over two thousand rounds and not one jam yet. The Hensoldt latches on correctly and holds perfect zero too. It pisses my buddy off because I outshoot his HK91 with it!! So...they CAN build properly.

I view it as poor quality control. I can understand a break-in period, but I'd be rip s##t if I had to start buying parts to make it function the way it should have from the start.
I own a PTR91K, Hart1/Ghillie 33, Vector 93 and 53P. The V53P needed about 100rds or so to break-in. Other than that There has been almost zero malfunctions.

The CA94std I bought for my Honey needed the ejector and spring replaced w/ HK parts. A HK extractor spring. I threw the BM Parts mag in the trash. It only malfunctions a couple of time every 100 rnds. now. Planning on a RIM County bolt head next. At least the bolt gap hasn't changed so far after 1500 rnds or so. One nice thing I can say is I can hit a 18"x 12" steel plate almost every time at 200 yds. w/ the Aim Point.

My .02 is get the Vector. The extra money you spend will be worth it. Or for a little more $$ have someone like Jeff build you a clone. Why toss the dice?
