I keep hearing about gap and I'm not sure where to measure that. As far as the endcap and buffer go, it has a cut down 53 rod/spring that I was told is special for the K model. No rubber in the endcap just metal.
What gap does it have? I assume this is a pistol, right? does it have a buffered carrier and a rubber buffer in the endcap?

bolt gap is the space between the bolt head and the bolt carrier.....you will need a feeler gauge

Off topic, but I've saved this post for all "new to HK" posters. We've just about covered it all here....
Now back to our regularly scheduled program...
I've give vector a try first. As for a low shelf, does it hand cycle ok? Load up some mags an go to town, cant get any worse as long as you don't jam one in the barrel.
OK, checked the bolt gap. .007/.18mm was a little loose. -008/.2mm seemed to be the one that fit the best. Snug but I didn't have to jam it in. Now what does this tell me?
This translates to .007". Isn't that what it should be?
Your gap is a little small. With such a short barrel it may be enough to cause issues. If it were mine I would run a few more thru it and see what she does. If it doesn't run then you may want to consider sending it back for them to repress the barrel or you could throw some oversized rollers in it. The gap can be so tight it keeps your gun from having the force to push back the boltgroup all the way. Can also be so big that is beat the rear of the gun up and leaves roller marks on the receiver. I would call them with your gap and explain the FTE and ask them what they want you to do.
Just spoke to Vector again and they said that the gap is a little small but not so much as to be dangerous. They suggested trying about another two mags full of steel case and if there is no improvement, they would be happy to take a look at it and get it right back to me. So far everyone I have spoken to there has been very friendly BTW.![]()
Just got back from the range and I have come to the conclusion that it may be a break in issue. I fired about 120 rounds today. I did as I was told by Vector, used only steel cased ammo, and had many times (65%) where the spent shell got about halfway ejected and several strings of two in a row firing properly. It is important to Remember that at the first trip to the range, I had no rounds eject either part way or at all other than with my elbow grease. I will post again after my next trip to the range. Thank all of you for your expert advice and information. Now I have to get the Form 1 done!!![]()
