Exclamation What's The Deal w/Clone Suppliers?

Just to give you a heads up on what has gone on and what is going on...

As some of you know, it used to be the policy of this board that there was absolutely no discussion of TB and his products, etc. (we still need to fix the forum description). That is no longer the case. We do allow discussion and reviews of his products and ask that folks keep it professional. Incendiary, inflammatory, and ad hominem posts will not be tolerated.

Recently, a new participant in the clone game entered the market. There was a lot of fanfare and also a lot of shady business practices that attempted to use HKPRO as a market venue. It quickly devolved into something that was not purely on the up and up, so it was removed.

Here's the deal... if you want to talk about these products, go for it. You want to write a review? Do it! Have a problem with your gun? There's a good chance you can find some help here. And that is what HKPRO is all about: sharing knowledge. If your intent is to act as a cheerleader or a basher (paid or otherwise), if you use this venue as a pure sales play and have the least whiff of BS around you... Folks will know. I don't know how, but the members around here figure things out as fast as or faster than the mods.

The HK community is far too small for folks to not be able to figure out what is going on. Nobody gets banned until they absolutely prove themselves as unprofessional. As it is, we have a lot of characters and passionate people in the business of helping you build your dream gun at an affordable price. Let's build on that passion to help each other learn and leave the name calling behind.

Does anyone else besides me need a re-cap on what happened to start this whole thing regarding TB and his products? All I know is that anything involving him or his products were “unspeakable” around here. So if any one could sum it up for me and for anyone else who might have missed it, that would be great IMO :)

Actually, this horse died a long time ago, and it's been flogged over and over again. The search function will 41 topics on Todd Bailey. It won't take that long to read through them, but it will probably only take 2 or 3.

I have a ?? about TB.. I just got a CA94 and asked him a question about it because I put an HK Contoured grip and trigger pack on it. He replied all bent out of shape comparing his CA to a Mercedes and the HK lower to an after market china fender. Telling me " Its like trying to put an after market china fender on a mercedes and expecting mercedes to warranty it. Well my question was nothing about any waranty. Lol. What strikes me odd about the whole thing is one of his big selling points on the CA94 Was that it is completely enterchangable and all H&K Parts fit on it. I even got a Hot Pink pamplet in the CA manual promoting HK blak market parts. Allmost as if they are prompting customers to put HK parts on these guns. Then he copps an instant tude about my putting H&K parts on his CA Mercedes? Anyway I thought it was pretty bolt of him to compare CA to mercedes and H&K parts to After market China parts. When I called him on it he said it was because they converted a fully auto H&K part to semi auto and who knows who did it. So now it is as good as after market china parts. Still pretty bold of him to make such a comparison. And I thought it was pretty funny. Then when I asked him why his cocking tube support is plastic and when has mercedes every been known to use plastic motor parts, he stopped replying. I guess I had him on that one at "Hello"..

Anywho I can completely understand why you would want to bann any talk of the man but if the man has a bad rep people are going to have something to say about it. Itl save you a huge head ache if you just let it go right by and not worrie about it so much.

I will say this much.. Customer service is everything!! Even thought I had read so much bad rumors about the man. I took it with a grain of salt right up till about the first email I got from the man. The moment he compared his CA as mercedes and H&K to Chinese after market parts, well I knew all the rumors where true.. But I will admit it did supprise me. Maybe Im just nieve;) Anyway the CA94 Is a pretty good gun, after of course you replace ALL the working parts with H&K Chinese after market crap..

    Thanks

I've read quite a bit from several sources, but most of it is pretty old news, and since these guys are still making the guns (and at the price they're offering them), I figured I'd try my luck. Also, it seems that most people that have ventured into this territory have had successful out of box operation, or at least replaced some parts and have a great gun. Not to mention no one else seems to really sell them. So far, my CA94SD seems to be of good quality. I have yet to shoot it, so we'll see!
