    Default P7M8 / PSP Help

I know this has probably been discussed a million times so please forgive me.....I just want to make sure I have it straight what the differences are between an M8 and PSP. From my understanding the main difference is the M8 has a longer trigger guard and a more conventional mag release location.....Is there any other difference I need be aware of? I am looking to buy another (I've had two previously that I foolishly sold) P7M8, but at today's prices I may give the PSP a closer look. Thanks in advance...

Everything you mentioned is correct on another note the P7M8 also has a heat shield and were manufactured for US consumption and bring more money since they are more sought after, That does not mean the P7 PSP is any less of gun than the M8, I own a P7M8 that I bought for 1100 is in like new condition...CDNN is selling the P7's Police trade ins for around 500-600 range, either which one you decide to buy you will not be dissapointed. They are both fine examples of HK's quality and craftsmanship..I would like to own a P7's one day to add to my P7M8..

Other than what you mentioned, the M8 also has a heat shield above the trigger that sorta-kinda works and finally, the M8 costs a lot more. (Oh yea, the firing pin bushing on a M8 sticks out a bit so you can push and turn it with your finger rather than needing a break down tool like the P7.)

The biggest benefit of the m8 over the PSP is the ambi thumb mag release. It will be obvious if you shoot competition & require quick mag change. However as a range gun/ccw, I really do not perceive any difference in function. As a matter of fact , many people prefer the P7 for ccw because the heel release is less prone to accidental release of magazine. For twice the cost of an M8, I can get two brand spanking new P7 (CDNN grade A or PW arms) & shoot them alternately so as to negate the heat effect. It really depends on what you want & how much you want to spend.
It is true that you can remove the FP assembly w/o a take-down tool for an M8, but then again, how often do you need to remove the FP to clean it? I am willing to live w/ the minor inconvenience. This is just about the only situation when I prefer quantity to 'quality", not that the craftsmanship of a P7 is inferior to an M8

Well thanks for the replies. I found a pretty fair deal this morning on gunbroker for an M8 .......$1150 for NIB. I'm pretty excited. Let me just tell you guys, flat out....I WILL NEVER SELL THIS ONE!!! I've been kicking myself the last few years after having sold my first two M8's, especially since they stopped production and prices continue to rise. This is much more than I paid for my previous two but I feel this is about a good a deal as I'm going to find at this point for a NIB or LNIB M8. I have yet to ever actually see or handle a PSP so it's good to know the few differences there are between them. Who knows, maybe if I run into a good deal on a PSP I'll get one of them too!

It is a good deal even for a used one. I suppose it comes w/ warrenty card?
I assumed that you checked the pic to make sure it is not a PSP (because some people mislabel their item, whether deliberately or otherwise)
