Nothing.
IMO the M8 is not worth the extra $, especially if the primary use will be as a CCW. Others will disagree.
Do a search, this has been thrashed about several times over recent months.
Fellas,
I had my sights on a P7M8 as my next purchase, but I see these nice PSPs for less money. Is the P7M8 really worth that much more? Other than its heat shield and trigger guard mag release (and cheaper/easier to get mags) what am I missing??
Thanks!!
Scott

If your not gonna be in a position to do quick reloads... on duty...or something like that the only difference in my opinion is the European mag release on the bottom of the grip on the PSP and the American mag release on the side of the grip on the M8 (much faster to reload...but for the extra 500+ bucks ... see what your needs are ... they shoot the same in my opinion
To carry concealed the PSP is awesome very low profile and for personal defense, if ya gotta reload your prob dead lol

Unless you're carrying your P7 series pistol in combat, or on duty as a LEO the difference in magazine releases doesn't matter. As a general rule self defense shooting situations are over in a matter of seconds. Others gripes concern the P7PSP not having a heat shield. I for one am not in the habit of rapid firing several magazines in a row. It's not how I practice and with the cost of ammo today it wouldn't be on my list of things to do at the gun range. I carry my P7PSP and do so with confidence. My P7M8 remains in the gun safe seeing little use these days. Do yourself a favor and save some money if you intend to carry the P7. Get a PSP.

I looked at both and decided on a P7.
The P7M8 was not worth $500+ more over the P7,.... for me.
The P7M8 seems to hold it's value at $1100-1300
A P7 or P7PSP seems to hover arounf $550-650
My P7 is a grade B. It was refinished at Robar, Rogard on frame and slide, NP3 for
all small parts and mags. Oh yea,..... and Nills! Love it!

Well done. I've got both and I think there is no difference in shooting the two variants. The heat shield is truly a misnomer in that it just delays the inevitable for a couple more rounds. As was stated earlier in the thread, the one difference that truly makes a difference is the mag release. But if you're not shooting competitively or using it a duty weapon, who cares! Congrats on your purchase! (So where's the pics!!??)

Lord, help me to be half the man my dog thinks I am!
I have the pleasure of owning a P7 and two P7M13s. From my experience I don't think its worth paying the extra money to get a P7M8, which like everyone else here has said its almost identical. The P7 PSP and P7M8 are very slim which I love about them; great for concealed carry.
I love the P7M13 a lot as well! Due to its rarity and 13 round capacity. However I hate to carry this gun concealed because its so expensive and rare. If you plan on carrying it around a lot save your money and get a P7! You won't regret it! Also I have shot my P7 at the gun range and it doesn't get hot how some people exaggerate that it will. I go through a magazine and its just warm. I'm sure you can go through 2-3 magazines without it getting too hot. So thats not a big deal in my opinion.
Other minor points to consider P7 vs P7M8. The M8 firing pin assembly can be removed w/o tools. No big deal. Later M8's and 13's did not have the front sight retaining pin or rear sight retaining screw - BIG DEAL potentially as I have seen sights knock off center without retention - all P7 PSP's have the screw/pin arrangement. You also want to make sure any P7 PSP you buy (or any P7 model for that matter) has new style drop safety parts installed. Many HK insiders agree that the earlier P7's of all variants were better made and more reliable then the later ones because when HK was making many more of them the QA was better because earlier on they had more experienced folks working them up. Not a simple device to make.

Sorry to hijack this thread but could G3Kurtz please elaborate on your statement that earlier P7's of all variants were better made and more reliable then the later ones because when HK was making many more of them the QA was better because earlier on they had more experienced folks working them up.
Thanks

Also worth considering is the M8 is slightly larger than the PSP.
