Default Help with my P7 PSP

    Hi Guys,

I just bought my first P7 and I need your expertise.... I picked up a P7 from a retired LEO yesterday and I would like to know what some of the side markings mean. The slide isn't plum like some of the others I have looked at...it is still original..on the right hand side it has the serial no# 62xxx BMI 12/83 and what looks like a box with a crown in it. On the frame on the right side is the serial no. and the same box, on the left side of the slide is the normal HK GMBH and address, on the left side of the frame is the importer (PW ARMS, Redmond, WA) I have looked at a few P7's and haven't seen this importer before...did they import alot and where did my P7 come from??? Thanks for the help guys...I hope I get to shoot this tomorrow...Robbie

Many of your questions answered here.
http://www.gunfaqs.org/P7FAQ/ Read section VII; "refurbs" for your particular history.

Your pistol looks a bit like this one except for the Nds in the oval I think.

The eagle in the square with BWB is a marking for the military proof house.
BMI was the unit this pistol was issued to. Ministry of Interior IIRC. That makes it a used turn-in.
PW Arms is one of the larger importers of surplus P7s.

One of my P7s is marked as yours... same date, 6218X serial number and I have another with the same marking but a later date, 1995. Indicating these P7s were used by the BMI for at least that long (1983 to 1995). When exactly they were retired from service and imported, I don't know.

The one piece of advise I'd offer a first time P7 shooter... don't hold the squeeze cocker in a death grip. Normal force, nothing different from any other pistol. Once cocked it doesn't push back, (hardly)...relax and enjoy.

Thanks for the tip... I shot it today and it was incredible!!! I made shots farther than I have made with a combat handgun. I am a HK fan for sure now...Robbie
