HK is the way!
EVEN WITH THE MARK 23 BASE PLATES? ON USP MAGS.. ARE THEY THAT MUCH DIFFERENT?
Yep, even with different baseplates the USP mags don't work in a Mark 23. i think it has to do with the mag release notch on the magazine being higher (or lower depending on which mag we are talking about) The mark 23 mags stick out of the bottom of the mag well a little bit in a usp.

It depends. If your USP mags have the long feed lips like most currently made USP .45 mags do, then with a floor plate change they will work just fine in the Mark 23. But if the USP 45 mags have the short feed lips of two years or more ago, then they will not work even if you do change the floor plate. The Mark 23 must use mags with the long feed lips. It doesn't matter if the feed lips are long or short in the USP.
Once you change the floor plates on a Mark 23 mag to the USP floor plates, there will be no gap. The gap is only present when using the Mark 23 mag with the Mark 23 floor plate in the USP.
Of course, the USP mag will not lock in to the Mark 23 unless you change the floor plate.
Here is a Mark 23 mag in a USP:
Quite a gap left.
Here s a Mark 23 mag with the floor plate changed to a USP floor plate in a USP pistol:
No gap.

Big Bore is absolutely correct, as I have discovered the hard way - switched floor paltes on USP 45 mags without paying attention to the lips and then kept asking people on this forum why the most reliable pistol ever designed kept double-feeding. Once I stopped using the USP mags (with shorter lips) mark 23 returned to its 100% reliable self.
I do use mark 23 mags in USP 45, gap notwithstanding.

I have some 10 round Mark 23 mags, I keep meaning to put up an ad to trade them for 12 rounders.
I will PM you, maybe we can work something out.
Did you check buffalo gun center? They usually have mags for everything. A bit pricey though...
