Default P7 Line of Hand Guns - Value

    Hello All,

I am in the process of getting ready to buy a P7. Not sure yet if I will get the PSP, M8 or M13. As you all know, there is a BIG jump in price when you go from the P7 with the bottom mag release to a M8 or M13. My question, although it may seem stupid, is why?

Am I assuming correctly that there are much more of the bottom mag release pistols out there in the market as opposed to the M8 or M13?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

BTW - I bought a NIB P7M8 in 1998 for $800 and sold it a year later for $700. Needed the cash at the time while in college (been kicking myself ever since).

    Default P7 prices

It is pretty much a supply issue, thousands of P7 healers came on the US market last year. The M8 has not the supply or police trade in numbers. Other than mag release and firing pin take down they are pretty much the same pistol. My P7 healer outshoots my other hand guns by a big margin. Also I am ambidextrous so the P7 healer works perfectly for me.

An M8 in good shape is going to be at least $1200. Probably close to $2k for a M13. You can get an A condition police trade in PSP from CDNN for under $700.00

I have owned both an M8 and a PSP. To me, the PSP is the superior design, as well as being a much purtier and sleeker pistol. I just don't like the gigantic trigger guard on the M8. It's very ungainly to me.

IMHO, the "Americanized" P7s (such as the P7M8/M13, etc) are overpriced considering that you can basically get the same thing for about $1000 less in the case of the P7 PSP. I actually like the way the oversized trigger guard looks on the M8/M13 and if a heal mag release version of those weapons were to come out I would be all over them... But it appears that most people like the PSP smaller guard and it's superiority on concealed carry (BTW, it would be interesting to what percentage of M8/M13 people have had 'mag ejects' during hidden carry - seems like a lot). Anyways, if you want a carry piece, you can't go wrong with a regular P7/PSP due to all of the aforementioned advantages.

But as it has already been said, the price jumps are due to rarity and an almost 'placebo' effect to moderization (M8/M13s are newer).

I would guess that when all of the German police trade-ins have been resold into the US market that their price will also begin to climb. They will never command the same price as the M8, M10, and M13, but they will certainly not get any cheaper.
Now is the time to buy low, grasshopper....

I own both the P7PSP and P7M8. The PSP makes for a great single stack carry piece. My M8 is pretty much a safe queen. Both are fantastic pistols and any HK fan should at least own one.

I have a P7/PSP and a P7M13. If I could just have one I'd certainly by the standard P7. I like the heel release and it is an overall sleaker weapon.

It's personal taste and mine goes for the M8. The mag release matches my other HK handguns and that is important to me for training purposes. I don't pocket carry the P7 so accidentally dropping the mag is not an issue.
