Weak mag springs or the slide release spring was slightly damaged. My money is on the mag springs. And 200 rounds is not slightly used, it's almost NIB. ;)
Get some 12 round mags while you're at it.
Picked up my first HK the other day from a fellow deputy. A slightly used USP Tactical in .45 (less than 200 rounds). I am impressed with the pistol on many levels but I'm having issues with the slide not locking back with 3 out of the 5 magazines it came with. All mags are factory HK (10 rounders) and were purchased new with the pistol. My buddy says he's had the same issue from day one but wasn't a big deal for him so he never looked into it.
Has anyone here experienced the same and, if so, were you able to remedy the problem?

Sometimes ill ride the slide release without even knowing it, make sure your thumb is clear, when I do it locks back everytime..
The easiest way to tell if it is you or the mag springs is to count your rounds and when you get to the last round, look at your thumb and ensure you aren't touching the slide release...then fire the last round. I would hate to see someone spend money on new mag springs when all it is, is that they are unintentionally riding the slide release. It seems unlikely that 3 factory mags all have weak mag springs. But if you would like the Wolfe springs anyway, then go for it. A lot of people love them for that extra little bit of reliability.

Probably not the slide release as myself and two other guys cycled the mags and came up with consistent results. The weak mag springs makes sense as I remember thinking they were ultra easy to load but just chalked it up to being more familiar with 1911 single stacks.
Thanks guys. I'll look the mags over more closely and try some new springs. 12 rounders are definitely on the shopping list. Wanna buy some tens? :)
Hang onto a couple of the tens. Make good range mags. Get the 12's for carry. Maybe just buy one new 12 and see if the problem stops.
Boo! Says Cat Robot...
The wolfe springs are not very expensive...much less expensive than buying new mags. But if you are in the market for new mags the best prices I have been able to consistently find NIW mags is at Top Gun Supply http://www.topgunsupply.com
Perfect...thanks guys.
