Default advice on P30 options needed!

    hey guys!

i'm planing to purchase a P30 or a P30L, but i need your advice first!

1.) is there any other difference between the P30 and the P30L except for their length? if not, which would you recommend (not for CCW)?

2.) is a tactical version (threaded barrel, higher sights) available from HK? haven't seen it anywhere, so i guess not? so are there aftermarket high-quality threaded barrels available for purchase?

3.) as you might have guessed, i want to put a silencer on the P30 if possible. what tritium (night) sights would you recommend that are high enough to be used with the can?

4.) who produces higher capacity mags for the P30? like 17/20 mags?

hopefully you can help me out here. if you got some other suggestions, please go ahead!

PS: do you have any information on the HK45 tactical, f.e. when it will be released?

    1. No difference but barrel/slide length
    2. I don't know about the P30 but I know HK has a factory threaded barrel for HK45. I don't think it would be too much to assume they may have one for P30 as well (not sure about P30L at all)
    3. Heinie makes raised sights for P30, not sure about Mepro or Trijicon though.
    4. No...sorry. Some could be fabricated with a bit of time, money, and someone good at welding.

The HK45T does exist, just not as a gun shop option (as far as I know). The threaded barrels are available from HK though.

    thanks for your answer!
so i guess i would go with the P30L then.
i've heard about the threaded barrel for the HK45 as well, but never heard of one for the P30??
pretty annoying, as i really want that suppressor on it.
who makes aftermarket items for the HK pistols anyway? i don't recall any manufacturer at all?

so why wouldn't they release a HK45 in the tactical configuration, if it already exists? i would buy it right away!

sorry for digging up this old thread, but someone recently had a good idea how to solve the problem of no threaded barrels being available for the P30 (it was originally intended for a Glock, but should work with the P30 as well):

shouldn't it be possible to get a P30L barrel, and have it threaded to your liking and then put it in your P30?
difference in barrel length is 15mm, or 0.59", do you think that's enough for threading?

Yes it is and there are threads on this over on Silencer Talk, forgot who the people were sending their barrels to, but it is possible.

1.) is there any other difference between the P30 and the P30L except for their length? if not, which would you recommend (not for CCW)? P30L

3.) as you might have guessed, i want to put a silencer on the P30 if possible. what tritium (night) sights would you recommend that are high enough to be used with the can? Night sights, in general, are rather unique to the P30, let alone suppressor sights. Heinie and Meps are the current standard offerings.

4.) who produces higher capacity mags for the P30? like 17/20 mags?Nobody. HK makes their own magazines, at standard capacity.

hopefully you can help me out here. if you got some other suggestions, please go ahead! If you are looking for a suppressor host, look at the USP and/or the HK45 Series, the threaded barrels for these models are readily available.

Now if you are that dead set on suppressing a P30, pick up a P30L barrel and have it threaded.

Thanks for you answers, that's probably what I'm gonna do. Just wasn't sure if the 15mm would suffice.

    P30L would be my choice.

Curious why Mec-Gar doesn't make aftermarket mags for HK? They make excellent mags for Berettas and a host of other makers.

(BTW, to the OP, I've owned both, and still own the P30L - awesome 9mm!)
