    Default Finding date code.

Hello gang. I placed a Hk45C on layaway via online. I am trying to detemine the date code from the serial #.
    Does anyone have a Hk45C with serial # between 128-005600 and 128-005700?

I hope it is a date code of AK.

    Thanks.
    Hk P30 9mm

    This page should help:

The serial number itself will not really tell you the date code, there will be two letters in all caps to the left or right (dunno where on the HK45 series). Those two letters correspond with a number, so therefore my USP9SD is a BA, which is 10.

If you see AK on yours, then that would mean your HK45c has a date code of 09 (2009).

    HK 45C (AK)

Thank you for the response, but that isn't my question. I want to know by my ser# what the two letters are. That is why I asked about the ser# range. I'm very curious. The company I bought from does not open the sealed case. I have bought from them before and they were excellent to deal with.

Ok... I'm a bit confused on what you're asking then. Someone else can chime in on this then.

He hasn't seen the pistol yet and only has the serial number and is wanting to confirm if a pistol in that serial number range is an AK date code.

OHHHHHH I understand now. I'm sorry, novocaine did wear off from the dentist visit this morning. Is there any way you can tell the date from just the serial number?

No, I already called Hk and was unable to get anything except it being a german made unit, which I already knew by the ser#. I was really hoping for the grey case too, but I think it may have a black one. BTW anybody that has the new grey case (not USP) and you don't want it, let me know.

The proof date code has nothing to do with the factory serial number mainly 'cuz HK didn't put it on the pistol, the Ulm proof house does that when they proof fired the pistol. This is typically the year the pistol was produced, but could be later depending on when HK sends the pistol for proofing. If HK found a pistol build several years ago that they decided to sell it'd get proofed -- and proof dated -- this year.

HK uses the same code sequence on their frames, but again this has nothing to do with the proof date other than the proof can be later since you can't proof 'em until they're built.
