Took my KY CCDW class yesterday...

The class was at Sportsman's Warehouse here in Lexington, KY. After the written exam we had to drive over to Bud's range to do the shooting proficiency. Since there were 40 people in the class and we only had 3 lanes reserved, the instructor gathered us in a sitting room and we had to put our weapons on a table in the front for him to inspect before we were allowed to enter the range. When it was my turn I was able to look around and noticed I was the only one with an HK . I took my P2000sk and when I did get into the range, he took a little extra time sizing it up (he was carrying a Glock).

I realize that the price tag of HK's may turn some people off but I expected to see more HK's in use than just mine! I was more excited to see the cache of weapons than shooting at the range.

As far as the HK price deterring people, I think it's more like alot of people see HK's as being overpriced... kinda like "If I can buy a 400$ Glock that will run as good as a HK then why would I buy a HK". I don't think it's that people don't have the money because almost every Glock guy I see in the Gun Shops and at the range own 1911's, Kimbers, Para, Springfields and these 1911's cost more than HK's. HK gets it due respect but I've heard from many people that they think they are overpriced and or overrated.

That makes sense to me. Quite honestly, I wasn't dead set on an HK for my first handgun but I'm a lefty and they were the most ambi of anything I could rent before purchasing. Now, I'm hooked...

Congrats. When i took my CCW test in AZ my buddy was the only one in our class with a HK. P30L. I dare not say what i was using then, but i am proud to say that i only own HK handguns now :)

1911's, Kimbers, Para, Springfields and these 1911's cost more than HK's

This is somewhat off putting to me... Its amazing how many @lock owners are so dismissive of HK's as overpriced, yet they all want, need, and lust over 1911's. Which are generally far higher priced then HK's, yet far less reliable...

I'm not going to lie, I love the looks of some 1911's but I wont bring myself to own them for being so finicky....
And to many parts....

So I was just looking at some performance RB1 10-8 sights for a Glock 17 I plan on picking up. And I'm here to eat my words. I just saw the bottom lug of the barrel broken off in a G22 Gen 4. I thought they just had RSA problems.... Yea HK's are def worth the price. Lol.

I'm not going to lie, I love the looks of some 1911's

I go to Bud's Gun Shop quite often now to shoot and they have a separate case for their rare 1911's and there's always 10 or so people standing around it drooling. I've glanced in that direction a few times and seen some with a price tag well over $2k. I've come to know that area of the store as the "collectors case". I guess I don't see the purpose of paying that much for a weapon that I'm not going to shoot often but a lot of them sure are badass.

I always feel like the odd ball at the range I go to. I usually take the XSE Commander, SW1911SC and my newly acquired USP-C 45. I never seen anyone at the range with either of these pistols. About 80% it seems have some caliber of Glock or maybe a SA in 9mm or 45. Some even have a revolver or two. As for price, my USP-C was actually cheaper than either the XSE Commander or the SW1911SC.

That's nothing new. I've been to many classes and have been the only one carrying an HK.

Last class was ITTS Advanced Handgun and I had an HK45, everyone else had a Glock or some fancy over priced BS 1911.
