For me, I have to go with the P7M8 and P9S. I guess I'm just old school, but I prefer them over the newer models. I shoot them much better too; maybe due to the fixed barrels and the single stack configuration.

More so like the Corbon DPX and the new Hornady self defense load, I can't think of the name of it but I think it's a odd grain weight like 135 or something... I still believe without a doubt that the .45 hits harder and will expand to a larger diameter than the 9mm. I'm not discounting the 9mm or gloryfying the .45 acp but it's kinda like this... a Corbon DPX 185 grain will do more damage than the 115 grain DPX given that these two rounds are placed in the SAME EXACT PLACE <--------- Key word being PLACE. Shot placement is more important than your caliber, your load, your gun, your tactical gear, etc... but that's a different convo for a different thread.
All in all I chose the .45 for two reasons.
1). Even though the trade off for the 9mm is higher velocity, modern day .45 acp JHP loads can be clocked at 1,000 FPS so if I can get around the same velocity in a bigger mass of lead which will then lead to higher FT/LBs of muzzle energy (Speer Gold Dot 200 grain +P = 500 FT/LBs of energy) then I'll take it.

2). As silly as this sounds, in a SHTF situation I'd rather be armed with .45 acp hardball than 9mm hardball. At the end of the day the .45 just dumps more energy (marginally more) into the threat.

(Disclaimer: Again I am not disrepsecting the 9mm, I carry a Glock 26 and I never feel undergunned I just realize the difference between the 9mm and .45)
45c (light LEM) and a P2000sk V2 9mm. I really want to add a P30 LEM 9mm but times is tough these days and I just can't rationalize the funds quite yet. I will soon enough but for now this combo is ideal for me. 147/230 regular pressure HST's (although I do use gold dot's as well depending on what kind of deal I can get at the time). Sorry for the lack of picks. I'm at work but greatly appreciate everyone who 2was able to put some up.

Quite fond of my HK p9s and p7.
I have two USP 45 full size. One all black, one stainless. I don't have two because they are prone to breakage, or even for the difference of black vs. stainless. I have two because I carry one almost all the time. If anything ever happens (accidental damage, taken as "evidence" if I have to use it, etc.) I have another to carry. They aren't prone to frequent failures, but eventually even the most well cared for machine can have a break down.

Wounds are pretty easy to measure. A simple matter of the cross sectional area of the hole times the depth. Since bullets 9mm and greater seldom have a lack of penetration it can be pretty much ignored leaving us with just the cross sectional area of the wound to compare size. Good expanding .45ACP woulds are 38% larger than good expanding 9mm wounds.
Now consider hits. Assuming you're at least as good as the the typical policeman only 15% of your shots will hit the target. Yep, 85% is the statistical miss percentage in police gunfights. You're only gonna get a hit or two. I prefer to maximize my chances for a large would and take that extra 38% factor into account. I also prefer to get the first hit which is a reason for Light LEM when I'm not carrying a M1911.
This doesn't mean I discard 9mm. "Some of my best friends carry 9mm pistols."And my USP9C is normally in my truck. My HK45, though, is usually on my hip. A P2000SK when I need deeper concealment and, heck, my Beretta 85 when the cover needs to be really deep yet provide some ballistic penetration.
