If I want to send my beat up, worn out USP slide in for a refinish, where would be the go-to place to get the similar nitrocarburizing finish that HK use on their guns?
I'd recommend a Cerakote refinish as well. The other option is to have a gunsmith sandblast and fix nicks, scratch's then send out to get Melonite processed. The latter is going to probably cost the same as buying a brand new gun. It depends on the gunsmith and how much processing he does. I've Melonited barrels, receivers, and parts but I was able to reduce the setup fee by getting friends and family members to chip in and get there stuff Melonited so it increased the batch size and reduced price.
Cerakote is nice. I dont have it on any of my pistols but rifles, Mad custom coating has been nothing but outstanding to me.. very cool designs too if thats what you are into
If you have the right person do it things will be fine. There are MANY OEMs using Cerakote on guns leaving the factory these days. It won't look the same as a factory finish but just as good in a different if that makes sense.
sell it to me, I have been itching to do a custom slide lightning job to one but i need a donor gun that is in rough condition so i dont feel bad about changing HK's perfect gun bahahaa
hahah if you get it, what kind of lighting cuts do you plan on making!?
