Default Brass ejecting in to my Face

There was a thread a few weeks ago on this subject. I don't think a good answer was found on how to fix the issue of having brass ejected directly in to your face..... I'm shooting a Tactical 45. I mainly shoot WWB 230gr and Brass blazer 230gr. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue? I'd say this happens 1 out of every 12 rounds or so, Some times a little less. Thankfully I use Eye protection. but if I ever needed to use the gun for defense I probably wouldn’t have eye protection on and hot brass in the eye would likely take me out of the fight...... How can I fix this?

    Weak Ejection caused by:
    1. misaligned/dirty extractor
    2. weak ammo
    3. stiff recoil spring
    4. on HKs it could be your finger is touching the slide slowing the action.

    Fixes:
    1. Clean under extractor claw
    2. Shoot some +p ammo and see if it does the same thing
    3. If the gun is new it may take a bit to break-in the recoil spring, see no. 2
    4. Check your grip or give to someone else to shoot and see if the same thing happens.
    5. If above doesn't solve your problems call HK and let them figure it out

Majority of your problems is due to a bad grip.

I was just thinking if you moved your face from the path of the spent brass then everything would be hunky dory!

If you are certain it's not your grip, then clean the ejector and extractor. Take the extractor out and clean it.

Those 2 threads were created by me:

    1. P2000sk - the interlocks between the recoil assembly and the barrel (that notch thing) wasn't pushed in all the way

    2. USPc - it was new in box and still has to be broken in to soften the spring assembly or my thumb is rubbing the slide. Still trying to diagnose the issue as I haven't had the chance to return to the range due to a funeral and still dealing with distracting someone and keeping them company with their loss.

There was some good advice previously posted. You did not say how old the gun was. I would go through the following steps in order:

    1. Clean the gun thoroughly.
    2. Try different brands of ammo and +p. Do not concentrate on hitting the target, but concentrate on your grip.
    3. Let several experienced shooters try it
    4. If all this fails - send it back to HK, with an in-depth explanation of the problems and exactly what you have tried.

    Good Luck.
