I have wear but no rust
Was cleaning the USP last night when I noticed the inside of the slide grooves appeared discolored. So I get out my bore light and get in close and it looks like rust. I squirted lots of CLP on it and gave it a good scrubbing to no avail. Thing is I can't tell if it's rust or just where the finish wore off and the metal is discolored. Has anyone else noticed this with there HK?
Sorry no pics. We just bought an Imac and our antiquated digital camera does not have a USB hook up

Tetra grease works awesome for the grooves. I would Eezox it, dry it and grease it.
I've got it. It's not rust, just a slight discoloration.
Nothing to worry about my friend.
A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don’t make a ...46."
Did you store the gun for long periods of time ungreased and/or dirty?
I've only had it for a few months. I bought it from a local gunshop, it was LNIB probably less than 100 rounds, AD date code. I even took it apart before I bought it and I could see nothing. You can't even see it under normal light, but when you shine a bore light right next to it you can see it. But yeah it probably was stored for a long time without cleaning seeing it was only shot once or so in four years before I got it. I'm gonna try to get some pics up today.
