P2000 with manual safety in 9mm with some manner of match trigger option like the USP series.
Basically the USPc with a weaver standard rail and a slghtly lower bore axis.
Both of you are over analyzing the question, I did not ask what should HK make or what would be in the companies best interest. The question is inquiring into what the members personnel preference would be in a HK handgun designed for themselves.
Lets not suck the fun out of it with talk of feasibility, feasibility is boring.;)
HK45 / HK45c / USP45c SS / P30 / P30L / P7M8 AH

I believe in people, free thought and sincere faith more than any earthly institution.
Except maybe HK. Maybe.
P30L with match trigger.
a 10mm 1911 with a squeaze cocking mechanisam and a fixed barrel with a gas piston under it ala P7 with high cap AFFORDABLE mags, tactical light rail on the dust cover that doesent require an adapter, all metal no polymer, ambi mag release.
i guess that would be my perfect pistol if H&K were to ever get around to makeing it
ohh yeah threaded barrel also, (no recoil booster needed baby!!!)
"Who Dares Wins"
An HK10.
Here's a few things I'd personally like to see from the good folks at HKI...
1) A true custom shop offering various action, performance and aesthetic options for HK shooters. (I'm not talking about silly promos or weird color schemes and marketing gimmicks like SIG Sauer USA does.)
2) Limited re-runs of classic HK pistols like the P9S, Match, Sport, P7s, ect.
3) One of the things I think would be really nice to see would be an HK1911 based on a refined version of the Peters Stahl line of pistols. They're German too, so I'd think some arrangement could be made to produce a 1911 with an HK flair. That is to say, a linkless tilting barrel and squared breech block similar to the HK45/USP.
Give it the HK45 recoil buffer, external extractor and an excellent 1911 trigger with HK manufactured 1911 compatible magazines. Base the premium version on an old school steel frame and make a duty/carry version on a polymer frame.
People would clamour for a factory 1911 with HK dependability without the need of extensive hand fitting typical of premium 1911s. The Peters Stahl linkless barrel/slide would do away with the precise hand fitting of the internals of the upper. We love our HK45s, but short reset and crisp break of a 1911 trigger is da Bomb.
4) The HK45 and 45c are great pistols right out of the gate. With a GrayGuns action job, and a few tweaks here & there, they'd be very close to optimum IMO.
I'd like to see HK go with the Mark23 steel trigger to eliminate any possibility of trigger flex. That's always bugged me. Also, I'd like to see HK make the safety lever detent a little stiffer to reduce the possibility of it getting snagged off safe in a carry holster.
Since I purchased my P2000SK, I really think that hammer drop button may be a good addition to the HK45s. They could keep the safety lever, just do away with the hammer drop function. I'd also like to see the top sight plane of the slide on the HK45 serrated like a P7. These are all things an HKI Custom Shop could offer.
Since I've been accused of over analyzing the question I'll add a few things in no particular order:
1) A much better LEM. I love LEM, but it still needs a shorter reset. I'm wanting Glock/1911 short with a more distinct detent on when the trigger is reset - not quite as rough as the Glock, but as observable in feel without the roughness that the Glock has.
2) More capacity in the big magazines. I don't understand why S&W, Glock, Springfield seem to be able to cram more in the magazines except they are true double stack. Why doesn't HK have true double stack instead of staggered? Reliability?
3) Lower bore axis!! I'll admit, here is where a 1911 shines. However, if HK can't do it with a hammer, then make a striker fired weapon again - either a P7-like polymer that is QUIET so it can have some tactical application or some other method of striker like a Steyr or something.
4) Keep the P30 like magazine release, maybe even a tad bit bigger - in between the newer Walther P99 and the current P30.
5) a single stack small gun roughly the size of a PPS but with HK quality and reliability and without the Walther PPS's weight! Say a single stack very small P30SSK (super small - ss).
6) remove the slide release and dare I say make it more like a Glock or FNP-9 so I don't happen to ride it with a thumbs forward & high grip!
7) A small bullpup that shoots real ammo like 5.56, is available to "consumers" and can qualify for Class III with an easy barrel change.
8) A true competitor to the Steyr AUG that I can afford (splitting the difference between a bullpup and the XM8).
9) Keep everything "military" like both in form and function.
Ok....I think that does it for now...gotta get some sleep so I can brainstorm some more :).
HKCHEF, is that more in line of what you were thinking ? :) :).
A P30sk (with grip contours, interchangeable backstraps and sidepanels) with a minimum of 10 rounds capacity and an optional manual safety for those who want it.
That would make me smile. :)

I think a P7M8 with a lightweight frame would be the ticket. Add to that some dehorning and you have all I want for christmas.
Boy, if you try and pee out a forrest fire all you are going to get is a burnt pecker.
