Thread: HK45 and P30 superior to the USP series?

You could say the same of Glocks or (many) 1911s, but they still sell. If there are still contracts out for USP's, they're going to continue making them.

Superior is tough to quantify when it comes to firearms. I mean, sure ergonomically the P30 and HK45 beat the USP, but there's more factors. The USP has match triggers, LEM options, more variants than are currently available for the P30 and/or HK45.

Things like that may make someone buy the USP over the HK45 all else considered.

Take a Valium and step away from the keyboard. I just bought a USP, pal. HK themselves imply the new pistols are an improvement and evolution of the USP. Well, at least their marketing department does. I feel like I just kicked your Tonka truck, relax.

More reading, less anal-cranial inversion syndrome. I'm in California - just like it says next to my name. You've got 12 posts and 2 of them insulted established HKPRO members. If you want a more detailed response, try not being a jerk.

My point was political considerations motivate keeping the USP line around just as much as market economics.

    Sobriguet,
Feel free to PM if you would like to berate me with your anatomical experience. I didn't realize members hold rank here. For everyone else, thank you for the input as it very much answered my questions.

    Default WTF?

What made you purchase a USP as opposed to the others mentioned previously? Assuming you had the opportunity to finger frigg a few different models, why did you not go with the more marketed and "evolved" HK's?

    Back on topic...

I really don't think mechanically there is any improvement since the USP series. The ergonomics are a lot better on the new models and will fit a larger variety of people (myself included), but I don't think the new ones perform better than the USP line.

Along the lines of what others said, I think it's going to be more of a phasing out of the USP series over several years as LEO departments move onto newer guns and the HK45 and P30/P2k series comes out with more options.

I think the USP line is still around because different people like different models and as long as they still sell HK will still make them.
