Default Why not a true Competition Pistol???

I was just wondering why HK does not make a true competition pistol. I have shoot there "Competition Model" but it doesn't take the cake to other makers out there. I know dome of you will say that they are only concerned with military and police and self defense markets. But I believe if they came out with a competition gun at a reasonable price I think it would sell like hotcakes.

    Was just thinking:

i spose "reasonable price" is relative

i just paid about 1300 otd for a usp expert model

compare that with a stainless 1911 youll get way more for the money then anything hk will ever come out with especially considering the value of the american dollar i dont see anything remotely being reasonable coming from hk anytime soon

my brother just bought a new stainless taurus 1911 (mil spec) and sent it out for some very slick rework and now has a very bitchin competition gun for less then a grand (gun cost about 550)

well,...depends on what game you play.

The combat competition was aimed at IDPA and IPSC/USPSA shooters,....the ill-fated USP Production was aimed at IPSC production division,..but the IPSC World Production committee shot it down,...saying it was a purposely built "race"gun and would not allow it to be used in production division.

Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn helped develop the HK45 (they are top IDPA and USPSA shooters and trainers),..

The USP Expert with mag well and match trigger along with the Custom sport were developed for target and competition shooters. What is inherent to these above mentioned pistols is that they all work,..they are drop dead reliable,..at a reasonable price as compared to more expensive custom pistols.

Having owned the USP (LEM and NOn-LEM),..the Custom sport and my own creation,..USP stainless with match trigger and PSI FO sights,..I can confidently say that the new P30-L 9mm is a better pistol for me,...adjustable grips (I don't know of another pistol with this many grip options),..front and rear cocking serrations,...BUFFER,..(mostly competition and some newer pistols are using these buffers), it shoots flatter than my USP's did,...and will likely get better as the recoil spring breaks in.....only thing lacking is a better magwell opening. Other than wanting a P30-L stainless version I have not intentions of buying another HK pistol at this time,..or going back to the USP series. IMHO,..it is a step back.

BTW,..the DA trigger reach on the P30-L is noticeably shorter than my Tanfoglio stock2 9mm, and CZ shadow,...basically the top "race" guns for production division.
