Default USP Expert or Combat Competition?

I was considering purchasing either the USP Expert .45 or the Combat Competition .40 for carry in a belt holster. I can’t find either pistol locally, and I wanted to see if anyone has compared them side by side for accuracy and practicality for carry on-duty (I’m not concerned about concealment).

I heard that the USP Expert is one of the most accurate pistols out of the box, however I was concerned about the size. I liked the Combat Competition however I have never used the Novak fiber optic sights or the LEM trigger. I also read some posts that said they fired better with a USP than the Combat Competition.

Am I better off just getting a USP 40 or 45? Any advice is appreciated...

Probably better off buying a USP 40 for the price. Even something like this. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=121224268. There are similar items in 9mm with a UTL light for around 800.

If you dont want the HK45, id go with the USP45 for on duty.

After reading other posts on this site, I was thinking of getting a USP 45 and adding night sights + either a match trigger or combat competition trigger.

I have a USP 45 and I sent it to HK and had it converted to the "Combat Competition" trigger setup and I absolutely love it. Within 5 minutes at the range, I could already shoot it better than I ever could when it was variant 1 (DA/SA). I say go for it if you have the money to buy the USP 45 and then send it in for the conversion, you won't be disappointed.

If you know of an HK dealer, they might be able to have HK convert it before they send it out to them which will save you about $100 in shipping charges

I've never tried the Combat Competition trigger. Is it basically a LEM trigger with a lighter pull and shorter reset? I'm used to a DA/SA Sig, although I also have a Glock 20.

So HK will install either the DA/SA match trigger, or the Combat Competition (LEM/Match) trigger on a USP 45?

They sure will. It is a really nice trigger setup. It is the same trigger that team HK uses in their guns.

After reading the advice on this and other forums, I'll probably end up ordering a USP 45 with night sights and the match DA/SA trigger. That would work better as a service weapon than the Combat Competition or the Expert.

I dunno, I think LEM versions are usually better for CCW and service use. You draw the pistol and shoot. No manipulating safetys etc. Mine are all DA/SA but thats because im in the military and my duty weapons are all DA/SA. If I could choose, the LEM trigger is light years better.

I think you are correct in your decision about going with a USP 45. I would still highly recommend you having HK convert the trigger setup to the same trigger setup as the "combat competition" which is a LEM coupled to a match trigger. It is incredible as a carry weapon or a range weapon.

I can not speak for the Expert but the Combat Competition has a fantastic trigger. I like the sight's and it's very accurate.
