I remember seeing one for sale about 6mos ago. I posted it here and wasn't sure what the deal was. I think the guy was tring to sell it for about 3800.00 or 5800.00 can't remember which1

What happend to all the XM8 guns? Did any make it to the post sample market? General Dynamics Corporation seems to of blown it on the small arms market. With both the XM8 and the XM312 cancled might these projects ever be sold to cives. How much money can a company loose with out trying to sell its products to a willing customer.

XM8's were never available on the open market (not legally anyway) nor were they ever series produced. Prototype test samples were sold to the US Army (< 300) and some remain at HK in the US and Germany. GD never made any XM8's and were only involved to help market the XM8 to the US Army in the latter days of the program, unsuccessfully I might add. If there is an XM8 out there in private hands its ownership legality is certainly in question.
Don't count out GD in the small arms market. They are making thousands of ne M2HB's and MK19's in Saco Maine in their plant there and G36's the Santa Barbara plant in Spain for the Army there, and MK47 ALGL's for SOCOM.
"How much money can a company lose without trying to sell its products to a willing customer." Now THAT is a GREAT question!

Nice pic Ryan! I gotta make it out to that this year.
I don't see what's so great about the XM-8 anyways. It looks too big and bulky. HK did the right thing by junking it and going with the 416. I know the AR platform is dated, but ****, it's the most versatile.
I don't even see how you can mount a flashlight on that pile of crap. Sorry fellow HKers, but I just do not care for the XM8. 416 FTW!
i dont think it was so much that H&K scraped it as it was that im pretty sure it failed the U.S Armys weapons tests. Their standards are very strict.
