SL8 Storage Compartment
I like to keep a set of earplugs with every firearm, as somehow they always seem to disappear from the range bag. The SL8 really had me stumped for a bit, as the pistol grip is hollow but there didn't seem to be a way to put a cap on it.
I then found a brand of plugs that came in the perfect sized case for a friction fit in the grip. After drilling a couple of holes in the case it'll even hold the correct sized allen wrenches for the sight and takedown screws as an added bonus.
Clever and functional, but not as clean as I would like!
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by clean? If you're referring to it protruding from the grip, that was only for the pic to show how it fit...the earplug case is fully recessed and hidden when pushed all the way in.
That or there's too much earwax on the plugs themselves. :o
You could even fold up the registration cert and throw it in there. You'll never forget it at home again!
I keep that under the cheekrest. :) Guaranteed to need it if an uneducated law enforcement type sees me firing this scary/eeeevil/black/makemedothingsIwouldn'totherwisedo type of rifle.
Nice idea. I did the same thing only no wrenches. I am on my way home to make that modification. Thanks for posting photo.
