Default Best material to repair SL8 receiver?

What is the best liquid plastic, epoxy, etc to bond to and fill gaps with on a plastic Sl8 receiver?

I wanted to fill in the gap on the sl8...

What did Tbostic use on his Stock Conversion?

You’re better off using a scrap piece of similar plastic and shape it to fit (original SL8 handguard or stock) and use plastic epoxy to hold it in. I believe that Tbostic sells these plastic inserts to do private conversion work. Shoot him a pm and he will promptly respond.

You can also solvent weld it pretty easily. Aqueous phenol with 10%-15% water works well. If you have gaps to fill, you can melt some chips of the same material in a little bit first until it turns in to a thick goo.

It works like model airplane cement - it melts the plastic a little, then hardens as the solvent evaporates.

Getting the texture right is the tricky part.

Send a PM to Chopstix Kid, he's been doing a lot of conversions, and you can't tell where the cut lines are. So many in fact that he's not accepting any more work until he clears his backlog.

Whatever you do, do not use epoxy - it does not have flexibility to withstand twisting of the receiver (when fired), and you will have a crack develop after few rounds (happened to me twice with epoxy). Either solvent weld or Devcon II platic welder work the best. I have had good results with Devcon II. Heat welders work too, but require equipment and certain level of skill. To make the cover piece, I used the bottom plate of G36 magazine. Some people use SL8 magwells (since they are of good thickness and are made of Nylon 66 - same material as the receiver).
