    Default HK & Wolf!

These days getting ammo is like milking a chicken! Anyway, seems like there is a steady stream of Wolf, unless you want to voluntarily give your home to foreclosure! Wolf is not cheap anymore, but it is 30 to 40 percent less at times for .223[sl8], .45[usp] or 9mm[hk 94]. I guess as long as one cleans religiously and plans on replacing extractor springs and/or extractors what other draw backs are there?

I realize some indoor ranges don't allow Wolf and you have to buy their ammo to shot at their range which I think stinks, but that's not the issue here!

The only thing I shoot Wolf ammo in is my CZ VZ58. It was made to use the commie stuff. It is dirty ammo for sure. I've never even considered using Wolf, Golden Bear, or Golden Tiger fodder in any of my HKs. It is getting expensive to shoot my USC and 91 for sure. If you can find it try getting some Blazer Brass for your pistol, or 94. It's decent ammo and can be had a a fair price. Walmart carries it... when they can get it and the 9mm sells for something like $8.57 a box around here if I recall correctly. I've used their ammo in my all my HKs from the 9s and .40 through the .45s. It's cleaner than the Winchester White Box and accurate.

Yes, I am aware of Blazer brass, but Walmart only allow 2 boxes per day per customer and they usually have 6 on hand, like today!

I run wolf through my 93s and 91. Not all the time but I have no problems with it all.

I can confirm that steel cased Wolf Ammo breaks extractors.

We do a lot of shooting and testing. The only HK extractor that I have ever broken was in an HK33 using Wolf ammo.

At the time Wolf was about $55 less per thousand than brass cased ammo, and new extractors were selling for $50

So I saved $5....that is, until I break another extractor.

Now I save the Wolf for my AR15, those extractors are much cheaper.

Have to factor in potentially an extra extractor spring or two ... so you might be negative ;-).

Myself have not killed an extractor yet (been a few cases at the last few Cheyenne Wells and/or KCR), however, do have several dollars in MPro7 to clean the mess out of the host guns. To save cleaning and to limit potential damage I have one of my Vectors and the ugly HK93 that are "Wolf Rated" (i.e. read allowed) along with the oldest M4 upper. This in the past was mostly for a close friend that shoots them with Wolf (he also does my HK work including re-barreling, builds a wicked AK each year and I shoot at his range .... so when we finally kill an extractor, it is well worth it ;-). On election day, last year, I ended up ordering a few cases of Wolf .223 ammo for "shooting ammo this year, as I figured if things got real bad would not wish to shoot the good stuff (M193 or M855) and just leave it on the shelf, but if had a couple boxes of Wolf left, would not mind shooting it up (besides have a box or two of the good stuff put back ... sorry to say not enough to really damage the shop floor ;-).

Don't forget to write your representatives soon and often to insist they not support any future assault weapon ban or any other firearm restrictive legislation, and help your friends and associates do similar. http://whoismyrepresentative.com/

And I can't. Try as I might and going on 36 cases now, I cannot break an HK extractor. Mind you this wasn't on semi or taking it easy in the slightest. This was over the last couple years at most of the major MG shoots from the east coast to the Creek mostly mag dumps, Beta mag dumps, HK-33 AND Vector V-53P with sear. I'm not bashful about letting guys light their cigars on my barrels and just abuse the bejesus out of my toys, but the damn extractors stand.

Now 5 gallon pail handles... I've broken a TON of them because of Wolf ammo. Range Nazis insist we clean up after ourselves.... go figger.
