You can modify your PTR to fit, but then that sort of defeats the purpose of getting it since if you're going through the trouble might as well have a real paddle release installed.

I saw this and it seems like a good alternative to a paddle mag release. I read on the sight the it will not work with the stock PTR trigger packs, but I was toying with the idea of changing to a clipped and pinned Metal trigger pack anyway, and if I did that I think this would work. I was just wondering if any of you guys use it, or have used it in the past and what you think about it.
Thanks,
Yeah man, I tell ya what, man, them dang ol’ HKs, man, talkin' bout SUH-WEET, man, dang ol' point and click, baby, just, just, dang ol' awesome, man.

The previous owner of my 91 had one installed. I like it, it's better than not having anything other than the button release.
Yep, I have a FMP G-3 S and put one on back in 1990/91. Works purty dang good, actually. Took a while to get used to NOT pushing the mag release sideways when I got other HKs.

Dremels are on sale for $40 at True Value so this would also give me an excuse to get one, been needing one for a while anyway. I think I am gonna give the tac-latch a try.
Before you modify your PTR rifle, this thread here states that you can fit the Tac-Latch magazine release by simply modifying the Tac-Latch itself:

I have two PTR factory rifles with the Tac-Latch II. My first rifle was an earlier one I bought new, SN A13xx. The Tac-Latch II was a drop in right out of the box. My second PTR was purchased from the original owner. He had a Tac-Latch II installed on it. Looked like it took some fitting. I have a third G3 type rifle assembled from a PTR receiver, 922r parts, and an FMP kit. If I ever decide on a finish for this rifle, I have a Tac-Latch II ready to install on it. If fitting is required, I'll keep Andrew's suggestion in mind. Bottom line is that these work.
Right on, thanks. That sounds even better.
THE EARLY ONES (Tac-Latch 1) HAD A CUT OUT SECTION AND FIT RIGHT IN W/O MODS. CUT THE PART NOT YOUR GUN.
I didn't have to cut anything and bought it some 20 years ago, so I guess it was the Tac-Latch 1. Just dropped right in. Makes you wonder why they keep "improving" things....
