no tactical shotgun fans here?
I want a tactical shotgun. I know the Fabarm is not a real HK and is "re-branded". should I get one or get another name brand, benelli, remington, Mossberg or the HK? what is a good price range for a used one? 500? 800?
no tactical shotgun fans here?
I would highly recomend a Benelli M1 Super 90 Tactical or M1 Super 90 Defense; the earlier ones were imported by HK and are so marked.
IMO the Benelli M1S90T is the best combat shotgun ever produced. You should check them out before buying anything else.
You should be able to pick up a LNIB M1S90T for about $900, possibly less.

Lots of things to decide here...is it for home defense only, or hunting as well? Semi-Auto or Pump Action? Regular grip or pistol grip? Care for recoil reduction or not? Tactical light?
I went with a Mossberg 590A1 myself (pump action, heavy barrel). It is for home defense. I added a Knoxx (Blackhawk!) SpecOps recoil-reducing stock (combo pistol / grip / conventional stock - similar to M4/AR15 style stock) to it, along with an ATI 3 picatinny rail forend initially, but I found when the stock absorbs the recoil the gun moves aft enough that the rails were hitting my pump-hand, so I am switching to a Knoxx forend and adding a Mesa tactical barrel mount adapter and an insight technology M3X "long gun" tactical light with pressure switch.
HK USPC .40 LEM w/MEP Tru-Dots
HK P2000SK .40 LEM w/MEP Tru-Dots
Mossberg 590A1 w/Knoxx SpecOps stock / red dot
Marlin 60 .22 rifle w/ Simmons Pro-Air 3-12X 40
Ithaca Model M49 .22 rimfire saddle rifle
Beeman R9 .177 break-barrel pellet rifle w/ Centerpoint
Marskman spring action pellet pistol
AR-15 project in progress...
I am quite fond of my FN SLP Tactical shotgun. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Might consider this one: Zombie Gun: The Mossberg Model 500 ZMB Review - Guns & Ammo
Could work on zombie threads too ;-)

One think to note about Benelli shotguns: parts are EXPENSIVE. You will pay double for a barrel, if you can find one, for a Benelli than you would with any other brand. Benelli considers themselves the Ferrari of shotguns and trickles out product, and prices that product accordingly. I have a HK-Imported/Marked M1 Super 90 that I bought from a member here. Awesome shotgun. It took me three months to find a bird barrel for it and I think I got lucky on the price because it was on eBay of all places!
On the other side of that coin: there are tons of accessories for the Benelli M1, M2, M3, and M4 shotguns because they're popular with the 3-gun crowd... and they work well. My M1 is as fast as any semiautomatic pistol or rifle I have. It'll spend most of its life in the tactical configuration but I can't wait for this fall to use it for bird hunting this fall! No more 870 pump!
From G3Kurz in another thread:IIRC, there were other threads and other comments, but, IIRC, they all mirrored the same theme.Stear clear of any FABARM models - not HK and they are crap. HK never made a conventional shotgun but worked with Benelli on the M1014 (M4 Super 90) for the USMC. There is no finer semi-auto combat shotgun in the world.

Yup. Throw a Mesa Tactical stock on there (they're identical to the Benelli OEM M1014 stock) and you have yourself one bad ass weapon!
