Anyone attempt to build an MP5 on their own? I see already done receivers on gunbroker for around $300. Is this all you need besides a parts kit?

Holy thread derail, batman!
You need to read up on some laws.
922(r) will tell you about the U.S. made parts that you're going to have to buy in addition to the HK German kit.
You'll also have to worry about the barrel being shorter than 16" if you do not want to sbr it.
You'll also have to get the lower modified (pinned and clipped) to NOT be a swing down and to NOT be capable of firing FA.
Um.. anyone else want to pitch in? I'm sure I missed something, I was distracted by pictures of mullets and porn stars :p
I'm trying to get my head back on subject!
I was going to do to build a MP5 years ago then I started looking at everything I needed and the time it was going to take. I decided to put the funds (new tools etc) and time into my hobby of shooting/collecting and just pay a pro to do it.
Its like buying a resort home on a far away island. When you figure how much the property cost, maintenance, taxes, furnishings etc you realize you can go on a lot of really nice trips and stay at the best hotel and not worry about anything and be money ahead or in this case ammo ahead.
My two cents
