    Default SL6 Hex bolt/screw loosens...

    Hi,
I noticed today that the hex bolt that holds the upper receiver in place on my SL6 loosens while I shoot. The upper receiver moved rearward significantly. Should I use locktite on this bolt?

Also, to get the circle of light sight picture on the diopter sight I have to reach forward with my neck a bit. Does anyone make a smaller buttplate for the SL6 so I can reduce the length of pull? Thank you.

    Question any thoughts

Ok - Loctite seems like the obvious way to go, but it will most likely get on the buffer. Also, this rifle gets pretty dirty, so I will need to break it down for cleaning from time to time. Is there any reason not to use loctite? Should I just crank it on very tight? The bolt in question is part #30 in the exploded view. You can view it at this web address.

Look at the SL-7 under rifles.

    Thanks for your help.

I've never had my SL7 loosen up like that.I know you have to really crank it down when putting it back together though.Try the lock tite and see what happens. As far as the buttplate,I don't know of any smaller plate. It's just stamped sheet metal so it's about as thin as it's going to get. You could cut the stock down but that might hurt the resell value a bit. I would like to find a Pachmeyer type pad to fit mine without permanently altering the stock.I need a little more length of pull. Good luck!
