Great Forum!
Can I use a G3 bolt and carrier in a build for a semi HK11?
Thanks in advance!
Yes you can...

it will, but if you expect it to work properly, you need to get the right cocking tube support, and if you are using a buffer other than the regular G3 buffer, you need to move the cocking notch forward if its the old style shroud. make sure you have the right ejector lever too, you need to drill the hole for the barrel lock pin into the bolt head face, still working the bugs out of mine, love it and with the 50 rd drum... who needs a bunch of heavy, bulky belts to lug around!!!
Well, if you're actually walking around looking for trouble with a 21, (rather than the 11 as stated here) the heavy, bulky belts are lugged by the rest of your mates that are tramping around with you. If you're doing this alone, you'd be a "dead man walking".
Other than that, you would just be lugging the heavy, bulky belts from the car trunk to the firing line. Exhausting, yes... but a necessary evil to keep the zombies at bay.:D
I would say that it could be a fun platform to play with but mine is plagued with a bolt bounce issue that has basically helped me make my mind up about converting it to a 21 rather than pay for the troubleshooting.
These aren't the droids you're looking for.....
i used a msg90 carrier with the 21 recoil buffer, less kick than a regular 91 now! had to change the ejector and locking piece too, it didnt cost that much more and i used a 91 bolt head with the hole drilled into it for the barrel lock up.
i admit i was going to try for the 21, but i find alot less parts to break with the mag fed version, and im not as ripped as sswarztenegger to carry around all that steel and lead!!! the 11 is heavy enough for me unloaded! :)
Yes I have heard that the MSG90 is the only G3 based carrier that was tungsten filled.
That might possibly help my situation but I would have to get it welded up to trip my FA catch and then if it does not work I am basically out the money I could have used towards upgrading it to the 21.
I honestly believe that my problems stem from the trunion being worn and so that means a complete teardown.
