Thread: Help...How do you remove a HK heavy bipod?

    Default Help...How do you remove a HK heavy bipod?

    I have a heavy bipod installed on my 91.......how do I remove it? Help....

    Take off the fore end. Un hook the two lockng hooks on the sides of the receiver. Place receiver muzzle down with legs extended and push legs towards the front end of the receiver. Once off you can rotate the bipod mount off the inner receiver mount. If the assembly it tight use a block of wood and a mallet to remove from the receiver. I always oiled the mount to get it to slide back on the receiver, some are very tight.
    I long for the days of stamped HKs.

    How do you unhook the two locking hooks? Thanks for the help.

    Mine have holes drilled into the ends of the hooks. I insert an Allen wrench that will fit into the hole and pry open.

    That was what I was figuring....but I didnt want to experiment on it. Thanks.

    Let us know what it looks like when you remove it. I've heard they do worse things to the finish than the port buffers do, but have never seen one for myself.

    The locking hooks just pivot out. If you can't move them with your fingers use a small screwdriver to pry them open.
