Default Differences in Hk marked PDW stocks

Got a chance to look at my older Hk marked stock (15 yrs old) and a newer Hk marked PDW stock.

    Differences:

Newer Hk marked one is basically a standard end cap screwed into the stock plate. The stock is secured to the folding mechanism by a hex screw. It's identical to the Choate marked stocks.

The older Hk marked stocks use an all steel backplate and it screws into the stock plate. It uses the thick recoil buffer held in by a screw behind the folding mechanism. The stock is secured to the folding mechanism by a roll pin.

Years ago I remember the Hk marked ones were all steel. Looks like they are all the same now however it looks like Choate sells the metal backplate on line.

FWIW, the stock arm itself is made by Choate. In the early model, Choate supplied the entire unit, hence the bolt-on steel end plate with thick rubber pad. The newer models, the endplate is a factory HK MP5K plastic endplate and the Choate stock arm is attached to it.

Noteworthy that when purchasing a new one, consider the Choate at 1/2 the cost as you can replace the buffer if/when it wears out. The HK marked units you can not.

You can still buy that buffer.

Those fit the Choate endcaps and plates only (including Choate branded PDW stock). Will not fit factory German plate or PDW stock.

Great info. The HK marked Choate stocks are outrageously priced. I will probably pick up the Choate brand unless I get an awesome deal on an HK marked unit.

Yep, that's the one for the HK plate/stock. Issue is getting the old buffer off. I haven't spent too much time looking at it, but it doesn't appear to be easily removed/installed, but I could be wrong.
