I'm sure that representitives from HK read this board. I'm sure that they would make one if it made economic sense. I'm sure it does not make economic sense.

I still want one too though!

My question is how does FN make it work with the PS90. I have one and love it. It is absolutely awful if you engage targets at varying distance as your sights are completely off but if you have it sighted in properly for a given distance it is absolutely awesome. Nearly no recoil, fairly powerful cartridge and very high accuracy even as an SBR. Couldn't HK do something similar and get the MP7S on the market?

Technically it could be done but much of the gun would have to be built/assembled here. HK looked at it some years ago but it was determined that the market for it would not support the investment. It took them 6+ years to get the civilian HK416 and HK417 on the market. And really...an MP7 with a 16" barrel?

They could import and sell it as a pistol...

Agreed the 16" in barrel looks goofy but never seemed to impact Uzi, HK94, USC, other pistol caliber firearms. Understand much of this was done prior to the AW ban but still think there is a market out there for a Semi MP7. I do want one but as you say unless HK leadership changes it mind it will not happen. Best thing that could happen would be somebody with deep pockets needing a tax write off could get HK to license them to manufacture/sell in US but don't see that happening unless I could win a big lotto :).

I know this will never happen, and if I were HK, I wouldn't think it worth the investment either...and this is beating a dead horse, but if they made them here in the states...other foreign based companies are offering SBRs.

I think the biggest reason people seem to be overlooking is why? Why would HK bring a semi auto MP7 into the world? Everyone says they'd buy one and I'm sure they would sell. But how many? Brand new USC's used to be almost $1800 if memory serves. That was 10 years ago. How much do you think the MP7 would sell for? Or the USC7 as I'm sure they'd rename it. I mean, the MR556 is almost $3000 now. The SL8 is over $2000. How many people honestly would buy one? I would. But I'm one of the few. I would love to see them come to fruition. But I just don't see it happening. Once everyone heard the price it would pretty much move into novelty status.
Custom PCS German build MP5 clone. The best period.

As long as it didn't hit 4K like was being asked for the MR762 (of course there are people paying the prices for the MR762) I think it would sell but probably would have to be no more than 2.5K to be affordable. Also point out that there are people making and selling AR base firearms for 2K while there are plenty of competitiors offering for sub $1 K but there are still plenty of $2K AR's being sold. Also lot of people said why would anybody buy a PS90 but FN still sells plenty. I think it is still basically a certain reluctance of HK not wanting to sell to the civilian US market not a financial reason. But then again I am one of those that would buy a SA MP7 even with a 16in barrel so I guess I am not impartial.

The only realistic hope is Umarex making a .22lr MP7 pistol, then SBR'ing it.

Full disclosure: I have TWO MP7's...
For both of you, hate is a strong word.... But I fart in your general direction!
