Very cool and rare with pics...is that Larry Vickers on slide 42? The HK1911 phot had a DELTA logo in the corner, also nice pics of some of the rare ones, the one that stuck out the most to me was the HK32k! Thanks for sharing!
noticed that author says USP stands for United States Pistol, not Universal Self-Loading Pistol like ive seen so many times. was this changed over time?
It OFFICIALLY stands for Universal Self-loading Pistol. The Germans at HK GmbH nicked named it the "US Pistol" because they thought it would only sell in the US, at least some of them. They were wrong of course.
so when are you guys gonna organize another one ?? i couldent make 08 and iirc the last one i was going to go to was canceled. i would pay any amount of money to be able to discuss all things HK with Jim
Oh really, I was not aware of any of that, I figured the PD, and knew he was getting into some flying, I am sorry to hear of that, I wish Tom the best.
I wish we had a "History" of HKPro- for those of us who got to the party late... Be nice to know/see who owns it, runs it, etc. Other than Straightgrain I don't really know who made this site happen, why it exists, etc.
HKPro was the brainchild of Tom Dresner. Tom was a SWAT Team Commander at a PD in MO. He was also a adjunct instructor at HK in the Training Division and was even the Manager there for a short time. HKProFest was his idea also and he organized ran two or three that I recall. This site and those who visit and reside here owe it all to Tom's vision and hard work. I don't know the history after Tom's departure.
