    Default Painting a barreled upper

I have CA94 upper that I need to paint. Does it have to be parkerized before I paint?

YOu don't have to. But I think it's pretty much the norm around here. I think it's a bit more protective.

If your using duracoat its recommended as a base layer but its not needed. The parkerizing on its own would be a great finish. You could use Cerakote black velvet..... thats tough !

As already noted, not necessary but has become the norm for most. Current day, HK phophates them prior to paint.
