Default First gun purchase a P30 on its way. What else do i need?

Hi guys after much research and waiting I have a p30 9mmon on the way.
What do you guys recommend as a good cleaning kit or supplies Il need for its first cleaning and lubing before breaking it in? Also what do you recommend as break in ammo? I had a few boxes of federal 115 gr lying around from the last range trip with my buddies glock. I keep reading that i should use 124 gr to break it in and the only 124 that shops around me had was blazer alluminum. Im a little hesitant running that thru my brand new pistol.

Also any recommendations on hollow point defensive ammo as that will be its main priority. (Ok so its target shooting but the wife gave the go ahead as home defense lol)

Ive lurked for the last month and looks to be a great active forum! Im sure il be back later looking for trijicons anda rail light when money allows.

Yea, break in the recoil spring with heavier bullets or you'll have tons of FTEs with the light stuff. On the cleaning side, I just use .308 patches and remoil to clean it with my fingers, I've put close to 10k rounds through my .40 P30 and it's still in great shape. P30s seem to like gold dots, both my .40 and my friend's 9mm both eat up gold dots for SD use. I've also used TAPs and they work well through it.

Yeah i wasnt aware they were alluminum til I got home. Perhaps il save them for my buddies glock.

Same store put together a bag of patches. Hoppes, some safariland all in one lube cleanee and a brass bore brush. Figured id see what you guys used. A dedicated lube? Brush safe with polygonal rifled barrel?

My barrel pretty much never fouls, at most you'll get a little bit of carbon, I put a patch on the end of a brush with oil, swipe it through once, put a dry patch on the brush, swipe it through and call it done. I don't use a dedicated lube, just keep it well oiled with remoil.

Congrats on that new P30. You want to get some hot NATO rounds (124gr) or +P ammo to break it in. Then after 200-300 rounds, you can feed it whatever grain you can afford (stay away from the steel casing ammo, though). Break-Free CLP will be good for cleaning + lube.
    HK: Yeah, I've got that!

+1 to everything TooSixy said. I use Gold Dot 124+P for SD.

I personally would add: buy more range ammo! One of the few things in life you can never have too much of.
