    Default First time HK owner

    Hello everyone

Picked up my new in box HK USP 9mm last week. I was told it was part of a huge lot of used LEO trade ins. Turns out mine was one of a few new ones they had. It is a V1 with Tru Dot sights installed. The date code is KF which means this thing has been sitting in a box for 17 years! I went out Sunday and ran 120 rounds through it. I love it so far. It is my new carry piece. I look forward to learning/discussing/modding in the near future.

My only suggestion for modding would be to look into picking up a new style firing pin and new style firing pin block, otherwise just invest in ammo and enjoy

Whats the difference? Is it a production change, or is it a full improvement piece?

I will get some pics up tomorrow.

The old firing pins had an issue with large quantities of dry firing. I actually broke the firing pin in my KF date code USP 40 from dry firing earlier this year, the new ones on the other hand hold up exceeding well to this type of abuse. Its not a big deal and a snap cap is a good investment if you do dry fire drills (I do tons of dry drills with mine), but you have tons of time to think about something as trivial as that
