What's up everybody? I just picked up my first HK, a VP9 LE. I told myself that my first HK would be a MK23, but that wasn't gonna happen. It was a tossup between a used USP 9 compact or the brand new VP9. The VP9 won, mainly because it came with night sights and 3 mags. I was looking for an intermediate 9mm for carry and the VP9 slots in beautifully between my CZ P-09 (what I normally carry) and my XDM 3.8 Compact (shorts and t-shirt carry). Today proved that I can EDC the VP9 pretty much anywhere.
I am extremely happy with this firearm. It is the easiest gun to shoot well right outta the box. It blows away the modded Glocks I've owned as well as the M&Ps. My favourite part is that the trigger is pretty close to my 1911. I look forward to reading and learning more about this fantastic weapon.
I am a big CZ guy. I build custom CZ race guns. Just wondering how the accuracy of your VP9 compares to the P09. I have an 09 with CGW rave hammer springs etc., and it is super accurate. Been considering a VP9
The trigger on the VP9 makes it a gun to shoot very well, very easily. Now, I am not the best shot, but I am just as accurate with the VP9 as I am with the P-09 at 7-10m. Due to the longer sight radius and lower felt recoil, I am more accurate with the P09 out to 25m. Not by a whole lot, but I can ring a 10" steel plate 49 out of 50 with P-09 and 47 out of 50 with the VP9. I have a lot more trigger time behind the P-09 then I do the VP9 though. I am pretty sure with a little more time behind it, the VP9 will surpass the the P-09. At least until I do the trigger on the CZ.
Wow, those three pistols -- CZ, VP9, and XDM -- each has a different manual of arms. I would imagine they all feel different, too. Do find that you have to do any specific dry fire work since you carry all three?
The VP9 trigger actually feels pretty close to my 1911, which I also carry. I recently sold the XDM to pick up another CZ (2014 P-07 this time), but with the CZs, I carry them like I carry my 1911, cocked and locked, so I am used to sweeping the safety off. For dry fire practice, I know I have some take up in the SA triggers, not a lot, but significantly more than the VP9 or the 1911, so I do compensate for that change. As of now, the VP9 is the only carry handgun that I have that doesn't have an external safety. I am out on the range with them on a weekly basis, averaging about 100 rds each per session, mainly because I do rotate my carry. After the trigger work is done of the CZs, (new hammer, sear, disconnect, and extended firing pin) the triggers will feel similar enough between the four that there won't be too much to compensate when going from one to another. In the long run, I would like to end up with either a P30S V3 or a HK45 V1 and keep the VP9 for my wife or my son.

I hear you on the trigger work on the CZ's. With a race hammer, springs etc., I think it is really hard to compete with how good their double/single action triggers are. It's such a night and day difference that most people can't believe the triggers on my customs CZ's
