    Trek45,
Here are some close ups, it's not the best camera, but if I quit spending so much on guns I might end up buying a better camera! I hope this helps to show you some more of the detail. Geno

    Thanks Turbo Com and Blackpaladin!

LEO: Yeah it's not for everyone or the faint hearted, that's why I did it on my Glock first before touching my HK's. To do a MP5 grip takes about an hour to an hour and a half since there wasn't much detail or a lot of borders, the USP takes longer because of all the edging (maybe 2 hours).

AEnemaBay: I've actually seen that thread before, very informative. It was after seeing it done so often on AR's and Glocks that I wanted to try it on my HK's. I was going to do the forearm on my G36C as well but I picked up a KAC G36 RAS that I'm going to mod to fit the G36C instead. I still might do it just to see how it looks. I'm still debating on the G36 and USC/UMP about grinding down the rail bases on the forearms and filling them in so as to make them smooth. But I still like the option of being able to mount a VFG or Tac Light on the side rails, so thats why as of now I kept the bases on the USC/UMP. Let me know if you have any thoughts on it, or how you did yours.

Also, can you explain your process on coloring in the engraving? I need to fill in same safe/semi engravings on an AR15 lower. Thanks.

Guys honestly I never thought about doing this as a service, and I'm really happy you enjoy it, it's pretty time consuming. I do have the time right now before I go back overseas next year. PM me with what projects you have in mind and I will send you a quote. I actually enjoy doing this very much and would look forward to doing more. It would be great to see it's application spread further, plus it wouldn't hurt to have extra coin to keep fueling my "Stamp Collecting!" I can do a pretty quick turn around time, under a week from receipt. Geno

Like the thread DF662 provided, It's real easy. I dab the engraving with Testors model paint applied with a toothpick. I use Ford Red, and semi glass white. In pictures it looks more orange than in real life, but trust me it's red.
I let it sit for a minute or two and then use a credit card with a thin non patterned napkin dipped in thinner to remove it. It takes a few swipes to get a majority of the unwanted paint off. Once it's mostly clean I detail it again with a thinner dipped napkin folded over once it's dries a bit. I let it dry overnight and then reapply gun oil over the area. This looks great on your Safe/Semi markings on your AR-15.

Also, there is no shortage of accessories on those H&K's, very tacti-cool.

Not to get off topic, but what did you use to color/fill in the engraving on the pistols/rifles?

Edit, never mind. I didn't read page 2

Lol, I know, it's just that I have too many variants and want to set them all up differently from stock to what you see there. But from experience and application my preference is to never go without a tac light and I have grown so accustomed to using a VFG.
