Unless something has changed (I'd appreciate a link if it has changed), the M27 is fed using 30 round mags.
Lower weight per given amount of ammo, as well as lower bulk; a nutsack is way easier to pack along than any of the 100 round drums out there. This also applies to extra ammunition being carried by riflemen......way easier to carry a belt or nutsack and hand it off than it is to lug a 100rnd drum.....or worse, carry the spare ammo in stripper clips and have to reload the drums for the IAR instead of giving them a belt of ammo.

I had understood that the newer quad stack mags were developed as part of this program.

Here's the applicable portion of that article:It has an adjustable butt stock and runs on standard 30-round magazines, although the Corps also is exploring the possibility of a high-capacity magazine that would carry between 50 and 100 rounds.

2025? The Marine Corps will have moved away from the M4/A4 platform, and migrated to the M27/IAR platform or variant of it; for EVERY Marine. This could very well happen.

Key words being "exploring the possibility of." Thus, unless something has changed and that possibility came to fruition (which hasn't been reported as happening), the loadout is 22 30rnd mags. The TO&E is up to unit commanders on how best to distribute those mags. I left the Corps in September...perhaps the good Major can weigh in with the newest gouge, otherwise I could ask some buddies with Victor units.
Does anyone think that a muzzle device that reduces both recoil and flash like the Battlecomp would be useful for the M27 IAR?
Back to the original thread, figure that it will probably be caseless or semi caseless ammunition. This week's Army Times has an article on the AAI caseless ammunition and weapon that is being developed. With the reported 12 pound decrease in a SAW gunners load it is definitely a game changer. Ounces=pounds, pounds=pain. If want more info just google Light weight small arms technology.
By 2020 I belive the super rich slave owners time will be at an end. I am not talking about politicans im talking about the super rich that owns them will be at an end.
