Default MP5 DATE CODED MAGS ?

I was looking at some ads for MP5 mags. Some of the vendors specify that their mags are original H&K, Made in Germany, and "Date Coded". What is the significance of the date code? Is one date better than another? Do they function any differently, or is there some added value for certain dates?

I saw a pretty good deal on some mags, that just said "Made In Germany" on the side & had the 9mm at the bottom. Other mags may say "law enforcment only", etc. Is one better than another? I guess my big question is: what is the best MP5 mag to get? I would assume that it would be the factory H&K, made in Germany, curved 30 rnd mag...but any other specific things I should be looking for?

    Thanks.

HK uses a letter system for date of manufacture. ID means '83, I think.
Older mags might have a numeric date like 9/79.
Not all MP5 mags have a date code. I just got some newly made ones without any date code, just Made in Germany and 9mmx19.

They are the same so long as the design is the same, and are marked as you describe. Cost/value for any German made 30 round curved is the same. Some folks like the LEO markings. The straight mags are not as valuable, and supposedly do not work well with hollowpoints. They work well for me, but I like the curved because they look better! Look out for the 40 round mags, some don't work well, and the Korean mags can be very bad. The POF (Pakistan) mags are apparently good, and a bit less expensive.

Thank you for the information. So, if a magazine says "Made In Germany" and has the "9x19" stamp...but no other markings...then that is a factory HK mag?

I was just curious if HK put any kind of HK mark or stamp on the mag, to show that it is factory HK.

Are any other MP5 style mags Made In Germany, but not by HK?

Mine were factory HK, or made by someone for HK when marked as above. Not sure all of them are, though. No mark or stamp to indicate HK.

The mags that say "Made In Germany" down the side of them are the current production mags.
