    Default Hello group - I'm a newbie !

    Hello -
I am the owner of a HK.45 and have owned a HK93 with the
retractable stock, for over 30 years. I know its hard to believe,
but I purchased my HK93 from the local handout newpaper
back in the 80's for $400. There use to be dozens of them,
both the 91's and 93's for around that price range. It has been
locked up in my safe for 30 years, and is like new.
I need some advise. I am interested in selling my 93, and am
not sure of the way to do it. Would I advertise it, and if I
get a buyer - - - have one of my local FFL dealers take it, and
send it to HIS FFL dealer? I want to do this the legal way,
and I'm probably one of hundreds that have assult rifles that
you can't get rid of. Also, what is my 93 with a retractable
    stock, worth?
There is a local gun dealer, that told me he would send my
HK to some guy in Oregon, who is buying them for around
$1500-$2000. He would be the middleman, and he would
send MY gun to this guy, and the guy would determine
what its worth, and send me the money. IS this the way
its done? I was hoping to get more than $1500 to $2000
for my HK. Also, I would hate to have my HK sent, and
given a lowball figure of what he thinks its worth, and have
to have it sent back to me. Any info on selling my HK
would be appreciated. Also, what do you think its worth?
The bluing is like new, and it shoots perfect.
    Thanks
    docent

Welcome docent, like you I bought my HK93 back in the mid-80's for around $500 at the time. I wouldn't even think about putting mine up for sale. However, if I were you I'd post it here on this forum. You can still go FFL to FFL if you find a buyer (you really shouldn't have any problem). Me, I'd ask $2000-$2500 if its like new condition. Also I'd list any accessories you might have. The more mags. etc. the higher the selling price.;)

If you are the orginal owner of the 93A3 and it is indeed "mint"... and assuming you have the orginal box and materials, I would be looking at the $2500+ range.

Depending on your state laws, you could probably sell the rifle to an in-state resident (face-to-face) without the need of an FFL--just make sure you write-up proof of sale and keep a copy for your records. If you need to ship the rifle out of state, you will need your FFL to do the transfer for you. but again, check you state laws to verify this.

Your dealer, of course, is going to low-ball the price since he/she is going to want to make at least 15-20% on the resale.

If I were you, I would try posting the rifle on Gunbroker.com. Once you meet the 30-post minimum here on HKPRO, you can of course post it here as well.

I don't think he can sell the HK FTF to another resident of Kalifornia, Republic of. But he CAN sell the gun and ship it to ANY out of state FFL by himself, no need to involve another local FFL (unless you just like "spreading the wealth " around). Pistols are a different story, need to go FFL to FFL per ATF regs.

Ahhhhh, TY for the clarification. Actually, now, I do vaguely remember that you can send directly to an FFL. Thanks for the "hit" in the head to jarg my memory, lol.

Really? Pistols have to go FFL to FFL? Did not know that. I think the last P7M13 I bought went from seller straight to my FFL.

Not true! Pistols can go private party to FFL across state lines as well. Done dozens of 'em. Unless they changed that in the last two months and I've been sleeping...

I have a potential customer getting bad information from a dealer's employees. I finally had to call the receiving FFL myself so we knew we were on the same page and he needed to educate his people. Amazing how much misinformation keeps getting regurgitated.

    Welcome to the site!!! :D
With 28 more posts, you can sell it here--- I am sure that someone here would take it off of your hands for $1.5-2K with no middleman! ;)
