Default So what is the maximum your willing to pay for the MR556/762?

A lot of speculation about price has been discussed on this board. While everyone would like to own these rifles, cost does come into play.

My educated guess is that if the rifles are over the $2200 dollar mark both will fail in the marketplace. I (and I think I speak for many members of this board and non-members) just could not justify the expense.

My $0.02 cents. What are your thoughts?

I doubt MSRP will be under $2,800. Nothing like taking years and years to roll out a rifle, then pick the worst economy in 30 years.

I just bought a Steyr AUG A3 for $1800. When it first started to ship, buyers were in line at $2295. However, this is HK. I expect the MSRP to be at least $2500. The MSRP on a USP 9 is $902; a Glock 17 is $599 (prices from Gallery of Guns). Comparing a USP to a Glock is not an apple-to-apple comparison, but is it really 50% better? (I'm not trying to start a HK/Glock war. I own two USPs, a P2000, and a P7.)

If they are planning to recoup their investment, they will need to move some real volume. In this market (and it's not going to get better anytime soon), anything north of $2.5k is going to only find a place with die hard HK fans -- that is not going to pay the bills on the investment in bringing up the NH facility. My guess is once the dust settles, they will be in the $2.2-2.5k range, no more. There are lots of good AR platforms out there and this too will place a ceiling on what HK can command in the market.

Well I really don't have cash so how much does a kidney go for these days?

If they are between $2200-$2800 I can see spending the cash for that. I'm just going to have to put that 93 on hold then.

Question is, are the MR762s going to command more of a price tag and how much. I could wait for the MR556 since I already have a M-forgery. Looking for a real nice 308 semi auto rifle.

Well the going rate for a MR223 in Europe is about 2,700 Euro, but they seem to cost a little more over there, not sure how much they are in Canada.

Here is a link to a German firearms site...in case anyone is curious

I'm willing to pay 2.5k IF they get their heads out of their a$$es and make everything milspec. If they stick with the watered down, proprietary lower version, I'll end up with another LWRC. If they are making 922r compliant rifles, then why the heck can't they stick with the standard specs (yeah yeah, I know all about fruit loop UN and all their goofy regs)

It's a piston operated AR that has HK engraved all over it... $1500.00

I love HK's, but they can kiss my a**. Nothing like those German boys contributing to the spiraling economy by putting every U.S. company they can out of business. And *middle finger* to the U.S. justice system for letting them get away with it.

And as for the Mke guns... well, I'll stop now before I get way off topic here :D

I think for a little bit more $$$ i can buy a LMT 5,56 and the upcoming 7,62 for nearly the price of one of the HK's. I had a 10" 416 and it is heavy with proprietary parts. The piston is cleaner etc. but for my needs a quality DI AR type is fine. DI AR's are cheaper, plentiful parts, cheaper mags.....

Damn this thread is really making me second guess getting the hk mr556. I guess I'm too stuck as seeing rifles in the same light as I do pistols. (Where I only trust glock/h&k). Do I really want to spend $2500. (Which is the most I'd pay). When it seems like by the time the rifle comes in its not going to be as special as it should be for what its worth.

Hope to have an MR 556 in the near future.
