Hey guys, I just put a MR556 on layaway, but I was wandering what else came with the rifle? Can we get some shots of the case and any extra goodies that comes with the rifle. Thanks!

Have I got a treat for you guys. I FINALLY took out my MR556A1 for a bona fide five shot group!

    Here's the ammo:

    Here's the setup:

    Rifle: HK MR556A1
Mount: Larue 5/8" Picatinny Riser Mount
    Rings: Unknown
    Riflescope: Leupold 4.5-14x50 LR/T
Apparatus: Caldwell Lead Sled w/ 100 lbs. of lead shot bags

    The target at 100 yds.:

As you can see, it was an extremely foggy morning around 7:00 AM. This picture doesn't do justice to how foggy it was that morning. I wonder if that affected the group ...

Here's a closeup of the target:

And last but not least, THE GROUP!!!

    Here's the exact diameter:

Better late than never, right? More to come!

1 and 1/8 inch group on a really foggy moist morning with factory match ammo is inaccurate? What kind of accuracy are you guys getting from your guns? I wasn't expecting a one holer, but so far it looks promising. This isn't the only group I'm going to shoot of course. I have eight rounds of Hornady match ammo left. I'll shoot an 8 round group in a couple of days and post that one up.

I'm getting ready to work up a handload for it. I'm hoping the accuracy will improve with a good custom load.

    Thumbs up

Nice group dc. The mr556 will be my first rifle so I doubt I'll be able to replicate that kind of shooting but at least I'll know the rifle will be capable. I've been looking at the trijicon accupoint 1-4 scope with a German crosshair. Anybody have any thoughts about that on the mr556 or just some first hand knowledge of the optic? Keep the updates coming, I appreciate it!

with a bench rest, match ammo and that scope I would expect better. We are not talking about a 600.00 Olympic Arms AR.

Cool-aide will only take HK Ar's so far.

Yeah someone said that on ARFCOM too. I can understand wanting better accuracy. I'll be shooting it again Wednesday evening so I'll post a new group then.

Has everyone been expecting at least sub-moa?

How well do the other gas piston AR's do in the accuracy department, by the way?

Granted this is a 3 shot group vs. the 10 shot group the ARFCom guys say is the minimum to be legit, but it does show the potential.

The test of the MR223 in a german gun magazine produced groups from sub-moa to more than 100mm (4 inches).

The first where 5-shot groups with S&B 52 grain HPBT Match rounds, the latter a 10 round group using 55 grs American Eagle fmj ammo. Indeed, the 75 grs Hornady HBPT grouped worse than in dcdreamboat´s test, delivering a group with a diameter slightly under 2".
