    No worries, family comes first.

I am hoping for hi-res closeups for a possible color match. I've been thinking of having my MR re-anodized, but it's been difficult finding a company that removes original anodizing properly (chemically), not by blasting.

I really don't want to throw my critical dimensions out of spec with a crappy re-anodizing job, so it's very much a "maybe". at this point.

    eta: Great pics!

My camera sometimes get white balance off depending on light (it is very old camera). Pictures at the bench on range seem to be closest match to real color.

    Cool.

Also, the anodizing colors are interesting.

Normally, the lesser grades of AL will anodize darker in the same bath then the high grades.

7075 will generally be lighter whereas 6061 will be darker.

Perhaps this explains the difference between the 416 receivers (7075) and the handguards (6061).

Or maybe HK just decided to color match Daniel Defense on their SOPMOD rails, because that's a pretty damn close color match to the DD rails.

Also makes me wonder about the 417 receivers which are the darker color.

lastly, the longer castle nut is a great idea IMHO. While it stregthens the receiver extension at its weakest point (the threads), it allso provides a shoulder so should the rare occourance happen where a casing gets stuck in the chamber and the gun has to be mortered, it gives a shoulder for the stock to rest/impact on while doing so that takes the stress of mortering off of the rear of the stock or the tube itself.

    I like it.

Try a bike shop to remove anodizing, I had all of my anodized Ducati parts done before powder coating, takes a Lil work but results are good.

Will the A5's features/improvements be standard in all 416? Or is it its own stand-alone model that is available through special request only?

Someone high up needs to convince HK to incorporate all the improvements and colors into the MR. Especially the improved adjustable gas setting. Looks great.

My understanding is that A5 will be new standard model. HK incorporated feedback and requests from several military users to came with one version that will adress most of this requirements. Like with OTB before, that was initially made to request of one customer, then became standard since A2 (I think it was A2).
