LEO in California wanting HK416

I'm wondering if there's a way to get an HK416 in California legally. As a LEO would it still be virtually impossible to get a 416? I've seen the uppers with welded on fake suppressors on a CA approved lower. But I'd like to get the 10.5 model if possible. Anyone know what kind of process would be involved or if even possible.

I don't think so. I know you can buy "assault weapons" somehow that are misnamed semi-autos but IIRC MG's are still department owned only. You might be able to swing something with your boss (not sure of the correct name, sorry) and end up with an upper somehow. I could be wrong, just trying to help.

Just find (little challenging) decent condition 14.5" and Perm attach a Phantom to get 16". Best bet, and better (IMO). 14.5's are slightly less available

In MA it is ridiculous.

MA has banned all sorts of weapons. The only ones that can purchase and in some case own banned items are LEO's.

No offense, but shouldn't you know the laws of your state if you are an LEO there? Does CA have an LEO short barrel rifle exemption? I'd guess the only exemption is for the PD, not LEOs.
