Who in the US is using the HK417?

    Ted Nugent on deer hunting.

He was being interviewed by a British journalist. The journalist asked,"What do you think the last thought is in the head of a deer before you shoot it? Is it, `Are you my friend? Or is it, Are you the one who killed my brother?'"

Nugent replied, "They aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, 'What am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away.' They are very much like the French in that way

Nice guns. Some of us can only hope to be able to collect one sometime next year or late this year. Then we can shoot it, fondle it, take pictures of it, and show and tell to all the other little boys and girls. : )

I think there will be significantly more demand for the MR762 than the MR556.....the market's pretty inundated with 5.56 rifles already. Right now there's not really that much of a choice for 7.62x51 rifles.....FAL, M1A, HK91, AR10 etc. The MR762 and SCAR Heavy will be warm welcomes for us all. One of the things that I am really not looking forward to is the price of 20 round MR762 magazine prices. HK seems to have a tendency to have pricier mags than Glock, Sig, Springfield, S&W etc. It'd be pretty steep if they sold MR762 mags for 50 or 60 dollars a pop. I actually do like the HK attitude though. Rather than building something that will take FAL, G3, or M14 mags, HK decided to make something entirely new. Yes, this will make the mags more expensive, but I think that when you start from scratch, you can probably make something that fits a little better. I guess what I'm saying is that I welcome the new design mags, but can't they be like 20-35 dollars rather than 65? I guess only time will tell.....heck this gun may never get released regardless. Then again, if LEOs can get the gun now, we should already be able to know the cost of a magazine.

That leads to the next question. What versions are going to be offered for the MR556 and MR762? Hopefully both a 16" and a 20". Since civilian production is usually 2nd priority for these gun companies, I am guessing only the 16" will be initially offered for the MR762. Anyone hear anything from HK about what barrel lengths will be offered? I know....it's very very premature right now and way to early to speculate.

I think I'm in love with the 12" barrel version.
