G36KE PROJECT-It is finished!

----------------------------------------------

Update! Just got these pictures from Tom Bostic! It's on it's way back to me soon! Thanks, Tom!

------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I'm almost ready for my G36KE build! The SL8 will soon be in, on the way, (thanks TACTICALHILLBILLY!!!!!). Just got back to Washington State from Texas and finally was able to throw together all of my parts. It's taken me since January to get all of these parts-spending a little bit each month. I'd like to say thanks to a lot of forum members (thanks Holshot36, Boo, FatMatt, Chuckanut, HKparts.net).

This has been my dream gun ever since I was a little kid and saw it in the movie "Tomb Raider." All I have left to get is the US-made bolt and piston. I'll be finishing it, hopefully by Christmas, (sending it in to Tommy Bostic), with G36KE markings and all, just like a US imported gun. When it's all said an done, I'll have a custom cut Olive drab Pelican 1720 case with yellow military stenciling on the outside, along with the needed accessories and their cut slots. When I post the final pictures, I'll even have a surprise with it that will make some of you drool. :) I'm lucky enough to have acquired 7 magazines for this baby. When I move back stateside, from Hawaii, this will get my 12.5" G36K barrel put on it and SBR'ed, along with a Surefire suppressor. Thanks for looking, guys!

Here's the SL8!

Alright, and now the fun parts!

Here's everything thrown together:

Can't wait to use the dual-optic Hensoldt I got from Boo!

The grip is NIB, the stub was luckily acquired at the beginning of this year, and the magazines are in really good shape!

922r US made parts. The trigger cost me a friggin arm and a leg!

UPDATE: Just got the rest of my parts! Probably gonna take Ghilliebear up on building a flash suppressor for me, since IGF still doesn't have the part I want in time for me to send my gun to Tom Bostic.

I got my new Hensoldt Red Dot.

Will do, Tony! I just purchased another stub, so I'm collecting parts to do a C build. Hopefully I get lucky and find a standard G36 barrel down the road for s''ts and giggles so I can swap it on my K now and again. Ill be moving to Hawaii soon, so sadly the C conversion will have to stay in the US, due to Hawaii's SBR laws, and ill only be able to use it on leave, but it'll be so worth it!

Stoked to see it finished! I am also trying to piece together my final parts for my build. That US made trigger is a bitch to find! I also decided to go the magpul 30G route for 922r parts. Since I'm using the 12.5 K barrel, wasn't too keen on messing around with the Op rod/piston per some of the reliability issues I've heard. Either way I'm glad to see this finally coming together for ya! That's a great looking parts kit.

I haven't heard of the reliability issues. Care to elaborate at all? :) call HDPS! That's where I got mine! I hope to see your gun when it's completed!

Nice! I ended up buying your old gray SL8 and have a G36E kit on the way... glad to see your set will be completed sooner that later.
RODMAR sold it already!?!? I gave that thing to him practically unfired, for chump change! Lol. Glad to know its in good hands now! I want to see the end result. Glad to know it's getting a proper rebuild! :)

My stuff gets here Friday, and so does my Hawaii communist gun license! Then I can get my SL8 shipped here! On a plus side, I just got my Hensoldt replacement Red-dot from JDyer, so I can replace the beat to **** one currently on my carry handle. I'll have to have Tbostic glass bead blast the plastic on the carry handle to remove the scratches when I send him my gun.

This scope is in awesome condition!!
Enjoy!

Well, I just talked to Tom Bostic and I'll be mailing these parts today and having my gun shipped to him this next week. I'm pretty excited! Still waiting on IGF for their 4" flash hider and still have to buy Holshot36's 4-position lower. I'll be picking up a pelican case next month! :) Pretty sure I'm the only guy on the island that will have one of these!

G36C parts are in on the way too!

That looks great! I really love the newer style G36K extended flash hider that looks more like the HK FH. I plan on SBRing my conversion in the future if Michigan passes the bill, so it soon will be of no concern.

We definitely have similar tastes. My conversion is similar with the same older style hand guard, except mine has the shorter C length folding stock and the single optic and a different (older) style FH.

Did you find an MG36 barrel? I bet those are almost like the holy grail!

Similar indeed! I've been listing over yours and everyone else's photos for the last year!

I hate the long flash hiders! This one bring this barrel to 16.1 inches, so I have to have the stock fixed, but I don't care! :D. It's better than getting overly long flash hider syndrome, which I kinda have already with this one, lol.
I know someone who has an MG36 barrel, but I'm just going to trim an SL8 barrel down in the mean time.

Here's the next one on the list!

MG36 with a heavy profile barrel, SEF trigger pack, bipod, and the Hensoldt Dual optic.... And you couldn't forget the Beta C-mag! I'll have a custom cut pelican case to go along with it, in the end.

Did I mention, I want to install a 300 blackout barrel?

Now this is just my hunch, so if someone knows the true answer feel free to correct me. But I believe most of the "MG36s" we have seen in pictures are actually just G36Es with bipods and beta C-mags. I base this opinion on this recently posted pictures in the "HK in Russia" thread over in Chef's corner.
Gun Firearm Rifle Assault rifle Airsoft

This picture came from what seems to be some kind of weapons demonstration in Russian. What leads me to believe this is actually an MG36 is the fact A) it has a visibly thicker profile barrel than typical G36Es and no bayo lug. B) It is grouped with all the other MGs in the picture, where another G36E from that same collection of photos is in a group with other assault rifles and has the traditional infantry weight barrel and bayo lug. The conclusion I draw from this is that the "MG36" we see in most media is not actually an MG36, but rather a G36E dressed up to play the role.

Thoughts? Opinions? Or has anyone on the boards seen an actual MG36 in person? They seem to be a bit of a rarity.

There is a member here that I believe owns a real MG36. I own a barrel from an MG36. Here it is.

More MG36 porn.

Years before I owned my G36K conversion I would watch these videos over and over, and fantasize about having one. Haha

I believe there is a member here who owns a post sample of the G36 collection: G36E, G36K, G36C, and the MG36

He received a surprise MG36 when he ordered a standard G36. Cool!
