Yeah it's got a couple hundred rounds and couple sessions in/out of the holster. There was a bunch of black soot on the front of the cerakoted frame from the last range session. I just wiped it off with some RemOil.
I of course cleaned her up for the photo shoot, so yeah it looks pretty clean.
Just picked up the HK USP 9mm so I can do the same thing. How difficult is it to completely strip the frame or is that not required? Id love to see some pics of this firearm and see how well the coating is holding up.
Stripping the USP can be a little daunting stripping the USP frame down completely. There are many parts to the trigger assembly. Taking this one apart for the Cerakote was my first time. What really helped was finding some good clear YouTube videos and I watched them a couple times while doing the re-assembly.
At the same time I reassembled the USP frame I added the Light LEM trigger kit. Highly recommend this as you already have everything out anyways.
Everyone keeps asking how the Cerakote is holding up. Only poorly applied Cerakote will wear or flake off. If applied correctly it is EXTREMELY durable. Mine has zero wear so far.
I know it's sacrilegious to post a glock post, but I found a thread on cerakote wear on a polymer framed pistol. The pictures were 400 plus rounds fired in one outing. The show was promising as the wear was minimal, however it showed little of any holster wear. I'm moving ahead with this project either way so I will either add to this already high jacked thread or start my own. Thanks for the inspiration. Cerakote durability? Lets see how it holds up! - Glock Forum
Not that many rounds through it yet, I've been waiting until I finished it to really put her to use. Next I'm going to get a custom kydex holster made that fits the Surefire X300U, Surefire MR09 adapter, and Surefire DG19 grip switch. Then it will see lots of range use.
Looks good, I may do the same with my beat up 9, but maybe grey. That grip tape and jet funnel really make it stand out even better. Great shooter and great looker.
Wow you have truly set the bar high for others to follow!! I've been collecting mags first for mine, but will soon get it stripped and cerakoted like yours. Well done!!
